30+ tests at his peak is good enough to conclude he is done. Piling on the runs in domestic cricket is fine but there's a reason why he couldn't succeed at int'l level. He'll be at best a short term option and given that age (turns 35 in a few days), it will going backwards. Also if Jaffer is to be considered, why not Majumdar, Kanitkar, Chopra or Dheeraj Jadhav too?
first of all i am talking about an opener replacing another opening batsman. first class domestic season just ended and jaffer is in hot form while viru and gauti are out of form, gauti has been dropped but replace by vijay who just averaged 17.25 in this years ranji trophy, dhawan did well with average of 51.22 but jaffer topped them both with average of 75.90 Untitled.png

Shami should have been picked. Dinda never looks like taking a wicket. Averaged 52 this ranji season.
even Awana would hv better choice than Dinda?dunno what he did wrong after Nagpur Test?

Did not perform in the T20 series. That's how they pick players, based on their LOI heroics.

I think Ishant is coming back in form ....he still touches 140 to 143K occassionally.....is pitching a Shade fuller than what he was doing b4......kinda bowls mostly in 137 to 139 k range with new ball and 135K with old ball.......his line length is better.....he does not Swing but gets bounce. Australians kinda respect him as they saw him when he was bowling well so I feel he is the best we have now as zak and umesh n varun r Unfit......

Wow, totally surprised at the exclusion of Shami Ahmed. If he was not a certainty for the squad, then he should have played in Irani match. Pace attack looks weak in my opinion. Let's see what happens.
