has to be dravid i have not seen wadekar, gavaskar, bedi captain the side. I vaguely remember kapil
..and why is that? Handled the pace bowlers very well and won some no. of consecutive matches in ODIs during his reign as an ODI captain and won series in England and WI. Stop judging him by the '07 WC.

WORLDCUP IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS AND 2007 INDIAN TEAM WAS STRONGEST TEAM INDIA EVER SENT FOR WORLDCUP

Expected the haters here! He might be the most successful along with Ganguly but ICF "experts" have a totally different opinion. :giggle:
I don't hate him. Hate's a strong word. I am not a big fan of his captaincy in Test. Utter poor selection and stupid field placements.

It might be for you. I would never sacrifice an 8-0 loss and a drubbing against England at home for a World Cup.

Kumble wasn't the worst captain but he had absolutely no clue how to manage the fast bowlers. I still remember a test match where the ball was reverse swinging like crazy and Zaheer had the batsmen hoping around like bunnies but Kumble promptly took the new ball and after a few overs put himself on and the wickets stopped coming. Fail.

Its not about results for me. People lose sight of the fact that Dravid was the captain when India defeated England 1-0 in the series which remains our only victory away against a big team (Aus, Sa being the others) for the past 20 years. The fact remains though, IMO Dravid was a meek captain who was not mentally strong enough to stand for himself and became a tool in the hands of Chappel. Dravid also did not defend his team when it came to a losses like any captain should and did not stick up enough for the members of the team. Its nothing for me to do with 07 WC defeat. But Indian cricket in general had become a mudslinging joke in the newspapers with the Chappell and Ganguly saga. Dravid for me did not do enough and did not put his foot down in many cases. I may not like Dhoni as a captain too much, but atleast he is the one calling the shots. Dravid was so weak that Chappell called the shots via Dravid.
