yes but i dont think even the photo agencies covered it. So coverage was practically 0. and yes the BBC was on strike. But the production company who was supposed to film the match too failed to carry out its duties.

its not just the BBC terrestrial free to air TV in the UK has patchy coverage at best. The reason being cricket takes up all day and they did not want to screw up their schedules. Now with digital TV you have enough bandwidth and frequency to have multiple channels.

Yup, it was the game with the most runs scored in ODIs .. I guess Sri Lanka got about 397 odd in that match. That day had 3 games schedules and the rights for India were with doordarshan which then I guess had only two channels. Hence we missed out on that match. Though I'm not sure that was the reason. Oh fair enough! I never argued that Kapil's knocks were not better than Sachin's. All I meant was Tendulkar's Sharjah knocks were pretty good and there must be some consideration before deciding the best knock by an Indian batsman. Unfortunately, I have never seen this ODI knock. Probably a request to Rob should help?

They did beat a weak Australia, but they only managed to win 3-4 matches out of 30 in the next few years.
