I don't think he moves ball both ways, may be he can straighten a little bit but he does not have a genuine outswinger.

At that pace & height bowling good length is not a option on indian pitches.Good batsman would have played him easily.I do not know about Southafrica he should do well as it will suit his style of bowling.But Sa batsman will be a challenge. His outdwinger is not that good as he rarely moves it away from stumps so that batsmen are forced to play it but he has a great inswinger. He is more dangerous against lefty. Other than that we cannot depend on one bowler to do well in SA. They need to do well as a unit. Umesh, Shami, BK can form a good unit.

Edges did not carry because Kaptaan Kool was standing half way to the boundary after he was struggling to collect balls behind the stumps. Praveen bowled brilliantly in England and even in WI where the conditions were not suited for swing bowling. He could have easily picked up another 6-8 wickets in the series with better support bowling and fielding.

Philander is as quick as him and does not move the ball even half as much as him but still getting wickets. In SA edges will carry more than they used to in England. Watch his dismissal of Pak batsmen in Chennai one day, all of them were on fuller deliveries.

Did I say he bowled badly, but his lack of pace of his undoing.I rate PK much more than this Kumar as he could move ball both ways at much fuller length which leave batsmen less time to react. But what ever reason keeper standing too far or butter fingered slips that is a different topic.

He surely has surprised many of us with his test match bowling. \ I hope the selectors and team management learn from his performances and blood any one else in place of Ishant. Shami, Pankaj, Dhawal give any of those guys a go, even Dinda but no Ishant please. With so many talented and very skillful young seamers around, I wonder why we are still stuck with Ishant.

Philander does not move ball much, he moves it late and as you said it is very subtle thats why I said it was thing of beauty. What he is doing at his pace which is not more than out PK and BK is amazing.He will struggle on docile pitches as he has nothing else to trouble batsmen.But he has become almost like Mcgrath with his efficiency on helpful pitches.
