flattest pitch in the word?

If Sinhalese Sports Club Ground supposed to be so flat then how come in ODI'S none of the total's are even 300+ or close to 300. In Tests only 1 match where there was the 624 record partnership indicated that pitch was so flat. Otherwise this pitch doesn't seem like it is the flattest pitch in the world. It's not even the flattest pitch in SL. So many low totals have been successfully defended. And chasing and batting second has always been difficult.

It has EASILY got to be Faisalabad. The track there is famously horrifically flat. I remember that 2006 game against Pakistan at that ground. Horrible advert for Test Cricket that was. Even Dhoni bowled there.

Mick Lewis. Johannesburg is usually a good pitch which has bounce and seam because of it's altitude. But that pitch wasn't as flat. It was because of the seam and bounce and swing at that high altitude where batting seamed easier. The pitch wasn't that flat and even if it was, it was a one time pitch.

:agree: It has become flat only recently. R. Premadasa during day time was known to be the flattest surface in Sri Lanka before they relaid the pitch recently. But it wasn't a regular test venue. That match 624 partnership happened was won by Sri Lanka by an innings. IIRC match ended in the middle of the 2nd session of the final day. South Africa were bowled out on the 1st day for 160 odd.

That was at Premadasa, not a regular test venue. It'll be interesting to see bowling stats of Murali and Vaasy at SSC against the top 8 teams :hmmm:
