I know that's a sarcastic comment but Cook has a way to go before he emulates Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Boycott, and Gooch.

Cook best batsmen since Bradman? The true test of greatness is longevity. Cook's test career, from an historical perspective, is still to fully mature into the adult stage. He is without a shadow of doubt one of the greatest batsmen of our times, but for him to be catapulted into the elite club, he needs to do this again, again and again. Cook's been unstoppable since the Ashes series in 2010-2011. But If you are looking for a dominant stretch from a batsmen, I would argue that Ponting's run between 2003-2005 was probably even more destructive and admirable.

Agreed. Cook is extremely good but he's been good for a relatively short period of time so its just laughable to compare him to any great batsman.
