Hope Rahane & Rohit get their shots as well in the team so people's misconception about them' date= based on their shorter format performances, could be cleared.

That's what most folks thought about Dhawan as well before his debut  Give a player fair chance in their favored format before writing them off. If Dhawan was to be judged on his shorter format performances he wouldn't have been given a debut.

what is the record for the fastest double century on debut? Has anyone got a triple century on debut?
No one has got triple on debut. Fastest double century was by Rudolph, but number of ball details were not available in older days.

97 players have scored centuries on Test debut. Dhawan has the 6th highest score so far among them. Above him are Reginald Foster, Jacques Rudolph, Lawrence Rowe, Matthew Sinclair and Brendon Kuruppu. Of the 97, some went on to long, great careers, many did not. Great innings! Brings a much-needed boost to our opening woes. But, a long way to go to a great career, to be dubbed "the answer" and such.

More importantly he has batted the overrated She-wag out of the team for good. About time. This is exactly what happens when we are hung up in the past and keep giving all the washed up players like She-wag chances, hoping they will click while we keep losing Tests. She-wag should have been history after the Aussie series last year, along with Dravid, Tendulkar and Laxman. Better late than never. Way to go Dhawan, Pujara and others.

Good thing about this knock is the positive footwork and all his shots were proper cricketing shots and very rarely got beaten or edged. Treat to watch.

Stunning knock!!!! After all the poo thrown at the selectors for 95% of their crappy selections I will be the first one to applaud them for giving a guy 'in-form' a chance at the right moment and boy has he delivered on debut..... stunning knock thus far and hopefully more to come tomorrow...

I never thought of anything like this. Dhawan surprised me and many others who were disappointed with his inclusion in the side. Beautiful innings by him today and hope there are many more to come :nice:
