Mandrake Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Love AB and Sunny. Really brings to the box a tonload of experience' date=' and maturity.[/quote'] Absolutely..what a respite from the likes of shastri,harsha and laxman!!
ravishingravi Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Yes great pot shots on AB's bowling efforts.
ganeshran Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 The worst aussie commentator is Haydos. Can't stop talking about CSK even in a test match :wall:
philcric Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 This is what ex cricketers should bring to the commentary. Humor and stories and behind the scenes stuff that audience wouldn't know otherwise.
Texan Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 AB- Sunny's bowling should be RAR-Right arm rubbish:hysterical::hysterical: :haha::haha:
vamos_rafa Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 This is what ex cricketers should bring to the commentary. Humor and stories and behind the scenes stuff that audience wouldn't know otherwise. Laxman brings prezzure with him.
1983-2011 Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Love listening to him. Great humour, great one liners. Nice stuff. In fact all the aus comms in this series have added loads. Hate it when comms are all from one country. Comms are always better and more sensible when alongside oppo comm as well. But AB in particualar has been a delight whos this AB alphabet guy?
Ram Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Border's a legend. Can you imagine something like this happening on the cricket field today - yUW7SsvuYu4 My best Border commentary moment came during the 2008 Australia tour of India. Going into 2nd half of day 4 of the 4th test, Australia was trailing the series 0-1 and had a narrow window of opportunity to put some 'prezzure' (VVS speak. :--D) on the Indian batting unit, dismiss them for a low 2nd innings total, mount a successful chase and tie the series 1-1. It so turned out that Australian bowling unit was badly behind on the over-rate for the day. If they finished the day behind on the over-rate, Ponting risked a one-game suspension. So bizarrely, instead of mounting the aussie attack with his front-line bowlers, Ponting started off right after tea with Michael Hussey and Michael Clarke. Border, who was on commentary then, was simmering with anger and silently remarked 'I am not sure what the hell is going on out there. If Ricky Ponting can read my mind right now, he is not going to like it that much'.

Number Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Border's a legend. Can you imagine something like this happening on the cricket field today - yUW7SsvuYu4 Dean Jones from 7:46 AlFSg9oZ6RA :haha:
King Tendulkar Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 AB maybe the most underarted player ever. Total legand. Greatest skipper ever imo, as took aussies from their lowest ebb in to a world class team. Remeber another story from Dean Jones. Had delhi belly and puked up on pitch while batting in India. AB his skipper is batting at other end. Dean Jones is a mess(needed to be on drip overnight next day) and says needs to go off. AB said if you want to go off go off " then we can get a real australian to come out here". Jones carried on and scores a double ton. In the box he is pure class, love his stories
Crookbond Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Without Alan Border, there would be no Taylor or Steven Waugh ...!

Yeah, Gavaskar and Richards were better but Border was right up there with Chappell.

Always about other greats, when border is right up there as total ATG. At time of retirement I think he was leading test run scorer
