Raina back in the test side, AGAIN!!!

Don't understand the hate for Raina, Agreed he has not succeeded in the given opportunities but he is hard working , has willingness to play test cricket and scored decently in domestic cricket. Considering Rahane is going to get his chances in the middle order in Delhi, he is not that bad for 12th player , is he?

Terrible selection. Since they didn't replace Dhawan with another "specialist" opener, then there were a number of better candidates than Raina. Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Manoj Tiwary and Ambati Rayadu have been consistent Ranji performers for years. Total number of Test caps between Rohit, Rahane, Tiwary and Rayadu = 0. Meanwhile Raina gets selected for his 18th Test. People that are judging a player's Test potential based on their ODIs are fooling themselves and should not be complaining when Raina fails again in South Africa. The selectors are just determined to keep selecting players in their wrong formats.

It's all good and well, but when you have a lot of players having better records waiting in the wings you can only expect the same.

I have nothing aginst Raina. In my opinion he should be second in line to lead India in ODI's and probably would be best choice to lead in T 20's. But he should give up hope of playing for India in tests. He is simply not good enough. But Dhoni-CSK-Rhiti connections would keep pushing him.

Raina won't play. Rahane will open with Vijay. Or they might rest Pujara because of that knee, and play both Raina and Rahane. but, if he does play, and Rahane doesn't then it doesn't even matter if he scores a century because he doesn't deserve to be in the test team(even though i like raina for the hard work and commitment he puts in)

Dont worry guys. Raina is selected as a specialist 12th man. He is an excellent fielder and can be used to give some of the oldies some rest.

I know Dhoni and Srinivasan have absolutely no shame but even by their standards, it is totally disgusting behaviour to keep bringing back this third rate Test player while destroying the career of genuine talents like Rahane. It is very rarely I wish for the failure of an Indian player but I find it really, really difficult to wish for the success of Raina - his continued selection despite failure after failure after failure in Tests really does represent everything that is so screwed up about our cricket.

Haha, ouch thats harsh man. I know youre right he should not be in the squad, but its hardly his fault. We can hope that he has overcome all his shortcomings and goes on to have stellar test career!!

Well what is even worse than the selection of Raina out of the blue is the fact that the selectors were bringing back gambhir after kicking him out for 3 games??? You know what this means? It means that he is surely going to south africa at least as a back up opener if mooli and daaku dhawan are healthy at that time.

Some people just can't handle power. Dhoni got some extra power by winning 3-0 at home (against a weakest ever Australian team) and he immediately abused that power by taking his buddy Raina in team. It stinks seriously. This 4-0 (??) win is going to have same impact as 3-0 win that had we got against England in 93. India paid dearly for that win for next few years. We are going to do same here.

So the general consensus is that it is CSK lobby is to blame. Lets get this right, Murali vijay - Most runs in the series Dhoni - 2nd most runs in this series Ashwin - Most wicket in this series Jadeja - 2nd most wickets in the series and this includes both India and Australia. So the top 4 performers for India are all from CSK. I am guessing even gambhir jaundice is now blamed on CSK. Bhajji has a alot to do with Rhiti and Sehwag is an all time great - to even compare his selection and rope he was given with others is stupidity.
