He keeps picking up niggles at regular intervals and it was actually Dhaval Kulkarni who took the load for Mumbai in the ranjis. It would be a high risk strategy to pick Zaheer. Assuming he hits form because he was not been that good for a while. There is a difference between having experience and being deadwood (which we were). Indian cricket hit a collective wall after the WC 2011. Players were too old or lost form rapidly (ZaheerBhajji Sehwag and Gambhir). There needs to be a fine balance between being experienced, age catching up and being out of form. For me India will be an inexperienced team. Therefore i will lower my expectations. and thats not to mention SA. They have become stronger with the inclusion of Philander (atleast in sa) and solid batsman in the middle order like Faf

Philander is a damn good bat as well. Though I think we can win atleast in the customary subcontinental wicket they'll throw up in the second test. (SL did, Pak came very close using only one spinner)

I said either win or lose, there will be a result because pitches these days are result oriented. Cape town test 2010-11 was not that hard a pitch, Durban was more difficult. This time, I believe Saffers will prepare more greener tracks for India plus I don't think teams play for draws anymore.

Here are the players would would come handy in South Africa rite now. Australia has - Michael Clarke, Cowan. Probabaly Jaques?? Pakistan - Misbah, Younis.. Well, they already been there and lost 0-3. New Zealand - They got clean sweaped too. Sri Lanka - They have two of the best - San***** Jaya but history says, together both have never been able to do much for the team when playing in south africa, England or Australia. England - Cook - Trott - Bell - KP - 4 TOP CLASS Bats who can literally do well against Saf attack. India - Pujara - KoHLI - Tendulkar - Dhoni - From the above list.. I would say England - India and then Pakistan have most experience to bat in South Africa. India should do good.

Has looked OK against pace. Dhoni will succeed in only one innings. Hopefully that innings is a crucial one. The other 3 batsmen (openers) + 7 are important. You don't need all the batsmen to do well throughout a series. 3-4 is enough with contributions from the others for at least one match. Plus 2 bowlers should average below 30 with similar contributions from the other bowlers for at least a match. That's enough. Our last tour in SA was like that.
