Kerala is role model when it comes to education, health and communal harmony just like Gujarat is a role model when it comes to development and just like every states Kerala has its weak points like lack of strong industrial base . Kerala has its own share of anti-socials like every other states and it hurts to see that some people are just highlighting its negatives while ignoring its positives . Also Modi became the CM of gujarat in 2002 since he became the CM Gujarat has moved up the HDI ladder. Kerela had the highest HDI of any state just after independence. However if you actually do look at HDI scores, the difference between Kerela and Gujarat is narrowing all the time. HDI itself relies on literacy, life expectancy and income. Literacy has a ceiling and life expectancy is not a big mover. The one which is the biggest gainer is income. Its fair to say by 2050, the trioka of Maharashtra gujarat and Tamil Nadu will overtake Kerela in the HDI as they too will attain 100% literacy and make bigger advances in the economy. Its also misleading to compare states like Kerela to say states like Maharashtra. Mumbai gets very poor migrants from the rest of India. How is it the fault of the state of Maharashtra that these people are so dirt poor? Kerela is a net exporter of people.

End of discussion with seculars about Modi ends at him being a Hindu leader. They cant see that Gujarat is the only state in the past ten years to have a consistent agricultural growth rate of above 10 percent. Gujarat is the only 24/7 electricity providing state. Gujarat has also the best road system as acknowledged by UN. First digest this and then talk about development of other states.
What does this mean exactly? I am unable to understand. Can you elaborate a bit please on what it exactly means to be the ONLY 24/7 electricity providing state?

132694362596.jpg Lets see if i can explain this carefully. Gujarat Riots occured after the burning of 59 Hindu Kar sevaks returning from Ayodhya by Muslim tea vendors at Godhra railway station. In response to this violent act, Hindus across Gujarat retaliated in violence towards Muslims living around them. According to govt figures, 700+ muslims died and 400+ hindus died. Not a genocide, but a riot that has been witnessed before in Indian history, especially Gujarat in 1985 and 1969 under Congress rule
That is why India is not a real country yet. Real countries would've found those hindu and muslim criminals and put them to death or life term. In India you get to go scot free.

Lol' date=' you were the one who mentioned Modi's name first. :hysterical:[/quote'] He brought in Modi, you brought in religion. I think what he meant to say is Kerala is not going to be pointed out by BJP power base as a success story because Kerala has done it much better than any BJP state has and they do not fit the 'hindustani uber alles' goal of VHP/BJP consortium. And then you brought religion into it.

Kerala is Lashkar's most favourite recruitment hub these days. Not to forget the recent incidents of distributing cards hailing Osama and offering prayers for Kasab in a mosque. Sorry but I will still prefer Modi's Gujarat over hundreds of such Keralas .
Such things happen in many muslim communities everywhere. Kerala is not 'alone' in this, so i dont see this as a reason to diminish Kerala's accomplishments.

Kerela's economic model is based on remittance. It would be stupid for everybody to copy that.
Thats the only major fly in their ointment- that the secret to Kerala's success is astronomical amount of remittance from the Gulf. But credit must be given to their government for being an order of magnitude greater in doing its basic job of providing for its society in fundamental terms of education & healthcare. True, their economic model is not as diversified as Maharastra or Gujrat but ultimately, they are no worse than a tourism-driven economy. They both depend on external factors to make money, rather than being a generator of GDP via industry or service.

you admitted to remittance from the gulf coming into Kerala. This is due to mostly Kerala muslims, many converted, who go there and send money back. Religion plays a big role in the entire economy of Kerala.

There are lots of hindus and christian mallus there too. Obviously there will be more muslim mallus in middle east than non-muslim, as muslims also suffer from nepotism and favouritism, but its nowhere as extreme as you or the 'hinduvta' mouthpieces seem to imply.

have you noticed any change in kerala's religious demographics in the past 60 years or is that also hindutva driven? it is done with an agenda. the likes of abdul nasser madani are given open political support and as far as seculars are concerned, thats not worrying at all. chopping off a professors hand because he "defamed" the prophet of islam is not worrying? it is well known that money sent back from the Gulf by Kerala Muslims is used for proselytizing activities. oh and if u dont believe a hindutvadi's word, here is the secular Hindu newspaper for you to confirm the steep rise of Islam in Kerala.
The barbaric act of chopping off the hand of a college lecturer in Kerala, whom Islamic fanatics had been accusing of insulting the Prophet in a question he had set for the internal examination of B.Com students, has sent shock waves throughout the country. The brutal incident has since been traced to some members of the Popular Front of India (PFI), said to be a fringe radical Islamic outfit, which, as per pamphlets seized from its office during the probe into the crime, entertains hopes of installing Islamic rule in India. The Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, has, in a media meet at Delhi at the time of the National Development Council meeting, expressed his fears, purportedly based on evidence uncovered by the police, that the PFI was hatching a plot aimed at Islamisation of Kerala and that “In 20 years, India and Kerala will become a Muslim-dominated region. Youngsters are being given money and lured to convert to Islam, marry Muslim women and then give birth to Muslim children so that they can multiply.†All for ‘love' This is reminiscent of the observations of the Kerala High Court on December 9 last year in a case against ‘love jihad' (conversions of girls from other religions to Islam after enticing them to marry Muslim boys) that there were indications of as many as 3,000-4,000 ‘forceful' religious conversions in Kerala in the last four years under the guise of ‘love', and the government should consider enacting a law to prohibit such ‘deceptive' acts. Steep fall To what extent do demographic trends in Kerala bear out the possibility of Muslim domination? From what I have gathered from the studies of noted demographers such as Mr P.N. Mari Bhat and Mr A. Francis Xavier, and from the book, Religious Demography of India, published by the Centre for Policy Studies, Chennai, India's Muslim population will keep increasing by one percentage point each decade and its share will rise from 13.4 per cent of the total population in 2001 to 17.3 per cent by 2050. For the sub-continent as a whole comprising India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, the proportion of Muslims is projected to increase from 30 per cent as of now to 50 per cent around 2060. As regards Kerala, in the last 100 years, the population of Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists has been declining by 1.2 per cent every decade resulting in a steep fall from 69 per cent of the total population in 1901 to 56 per cent in 2001. During the first half of the 20th century, the Christian share in the population had increased from 14 per cent to 21 per cent. In the post-Independence era, the percentage of Muslims in the State as a whole has gone up from 17.5 to 25. Regional trends The trends pertaining to specific regions of Kerala are equally interesting. In the Malappuram district, in the period from 1951 to 2001, the increase in the Muslim share in the total population has been by 14 percentage points, from 54.3 to 68 per cent. In the entire Malabar region, comprising Kasargod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Palakkad, the non-Islamic, non-Christian section of the population has dropped from 65.3 per cent of the total in 1951 to a near minority level of 52.7 per cent in 2001. In the same period, the Muslim share in the region has gone up from 31.4 per cent to 41.1 per cent and the Christian share has also risen significantly from 3.3 per cent to 6.2 per cent. I am convinced that the trends I have set out are not part of any design on any particular community's part to overturn India's religious demography in its favour. Even so, they bear watching.

Not sure why remittances is seen as bad thing by some, it's still brining forex into India. India has a hopeless current account deficit and remittances and foreign tourism is one way to reduce it. With India's huge young population, many states could use this formula. And India is a vast country, for example comparing a fertile rich state like Kerala against political capital territory Delhi, migrant attracted Maharashtra or a desert state of Gujarat will only lead to wrong conclusions. thb the focus should be on the crapholes like UP, MP, Bihar and Rajasthan, and why despite blessed with so much have had so little progress.
