kubrickian Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Why couldnt Sachin or Harbhajan captain MI or Yuvraj captain Pune or Sehwag captain Delhi ? Or at least let relatively inexperienced players like Unmukt Chand or Uthappa or Rohit Sharma given an opportunity to captain their IPL sides ?
cameron_black Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 because traditionally indians are better at following rather than leading? just my view.
Zelig Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 At captaincy - Mahela > Viru Clarke (1st choice) > UV (didn't want to cappo when approached after MC was injured) Ponting > Sachin/Bhajji (no-brainer) Simple!
game_changerr Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 tbh RR should have appointed watson as caption
SLICKR392 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 tbh RR should have appointed watson as caption Dravid was an excellent leader in the previous IPL. :headshake:
Ultimate_Game Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Hope we don't see too many Indian captains else we will see more infighting in the team with everyone wanting to be a captain.
game_changerr Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Dravid was an excellent leader in the previous IPL. :headshake: dravid only plays for fair play award:headshake:
SLICKR392 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 dravid only plays for fair play award:headshake: Yet score more than MC BC rat! :winky:
game_changerr Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Yet score more than MC BC rat! :winky: talikng abt last year ipl?''rat'' was coming after playing brilliant knocks of 136 against sl in adelade, and 183 against pak,,,,,he was tired tats y he took last year ipl too lightly
Needforspeed Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I think they have gone by Captaincy/ Vice-captaincy experience at the highest level. Obviously the foriegn players will have more experience.
Gunner Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 because traditionally indians are better at following rather than leading? Says the lankan LOL.
SLICKR392 Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 talikng abt last year ipl?''rat'' was coming after playing brilliant knocks of 136 against sl in adelade' date='and 183 against pak,,,,,he was tired tats y he took last year ipl too lightly[/quote'] Yeah, alright. :giggle:
Vilander Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 when some player with international captaining experience is available one would go for that player..its common sense.
dibyabttb Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 If studied deeply, appointing a foreign captain makes economic sense. Team managements perhaps want to extract as much as possible from the overseas icon player whom they buy at an exorbitant price. This logic can be backed up by the fact that the teams are now increasingly appointing the foreign stars as mentor-cum-player.
Texan Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Why couldnt Sachin or Harbhajan captain MI Do you even know what Sachin's record as captain is? And Harbhajan.... the lesser said the better.
someone Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Captaincy is the most important element in T20/IPL compared with other teams. All teams whom have won the IPL have always had a good in-form captains. Therefore, more than anything, your captains have to be performing.
