The Dark Horse Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Had Sammy not gotten out he would have definitely added 20+ to the total..It's the indian players/passengers that are affecting the team. What's the role of Samantray/Karan Sharma in the team? You can't win all the time with 8 or 9 players.
someone Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Imo, they just played like last season. If anybody watched their games last season, they were one of the most unlucky teams as they lost around 7-9 games at the last overs. This time around, they had the luck together with the same set of skills as last season. Although, they did replace Christan who was a very poor player for them with Sammy who looks quality.

They dropped 26 catches last season :hmmm: how is that unlucky

He is one of the best spinners this season Samantray has also played well in his cameos. If you really want to question a player, it has to be Vihari. I do not understand why he is getting praised so highly, he bats so slow and thus only increases more difficultly for other batsman but only to be bailed out by their bowling.

They were way way better than last season
someone Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 They dropped 26 catches last season :hmmm: how is that unlucky Isn't that some poor luck? They definitely should have won more matches last season. And this time they got it right.

My bad..I haven't seen all SRH matches..the general thing is franchises have excessive good foreign players but dont have quality domestic players..They should make sure there's a balance.
someone Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 They were way way better than last season Did you watch their matches last season? They many times dominated 90% of the game, only to lose in the final overs. Even the likes of Steyn suffered. This time around, they changed their strategy and went for the kill earlier like completing Steyn overs early rather than in the last over.

And this time they got it right. catching has nothing to do with luck. It is part of the game. Lot of teams take that for granted. CSK would have lost couple of matches but for last minute great fielding of Hussey. Pollard's catch alone turned two matches on its head. No team is good enough to win matches with poor fielding match after match.

Other than CSK, all other teams bank on their foreign players. It's the foreign players who make the difference. Very important to understand that.

Of course it also shows some bad skills but nevertheless the luck played a crucial part as every player last season had looked made mistakes at crucial moments. Thus, this season they really played like last season but only did not "lose it" at the final moments.

Thus' date=' this season they really played like last season but only did not "lose it" at the final moments.[/quote'] Punjab is the worst when it comes to fielding in crunch times. They make the simplest of mistakes.

rkt.india Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 So maniac316 was playing Sammy good or bad? I can't believe SRH benched him for early part of the tournament. He was injured.

They have enough local team and do not rely heavily to foreigners like many other teams.

What's the role of Samantray/Karan Sharma in the team? You can't win all the time with 8 or 9 players. Karan Sharma was one of their best and most economical bowler of the tournament. It is likes of Pappu, White and Vihari have been poor. Even Dhawan has not done much.
zakk Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 wow well played SRH :two_thumbs_up: the real bowling power house :nice:
velu Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 why do they all look the same? :hmmm: you have to do eye checkup or u r a chinki guy :haha::haha:

Defending 120-130 regularly is no easy task in the IPL. Even a semi-decent batting performance would have taken SRH through, maybe even to the finals.
