He is a decent bat' date=' but doesn't deserve a place based on batting alone. :hmmm:[/quote'] Right, only deserves a chance if he can keep wickets. In both departments, Dhoni is way superior

IMO Rohit and Rahane are both specialist batsmen and much better in terms of batting skills than DK.

Yes, the same Rohit who makes a 50 once every 15 matches and stays on for another 15 matches because of that.

Yes' date=' the same Rohit who makes a 50 once every 15 matches and stays on for another 15 matches because of that.[/quote'] So, if you are comparing frequencies, DK has 5 x 50s in 44 innings for a frequency of 1 every 8.8 innings. Avg: 27, SR: 74 Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, has 15 x 50+ scores (including 2 x 100s) in 83 innings for a frequency of 1 every 5.53 innings. Avg: 30, SR: 78. :hmmm: So, who's got the lower frequency?

We have Kohli and Raina both far superior no.3 bats than DK in T20s . So can't see him breaking into the team anytime soon.
He is definitely better than airy fairy taulent Rohit.

Brilliant knock yesterday' date=' and the good thing is that he has been consistent in all 3 games that he has played.[/quote'] which is surprising. Sometimes i think he is too selfless. Once he switches to top gear he just doesn't stop until he gets out. He could learn a thing or two from Kohli about pacing the innings. Even when he was close to getting his maiden 100 when he was 19, India was in a position to go for quick runs. He went after and got out for 93 runs sharing a crucial partnership with Dravid.

DK is playing superbly in this IPL. He is one of those guys (like Raina) who times the ball well from the get go, which is important in T20s. Unlucky to be playing in the same era as Dhoni. T20s ... Karthik is probably > Dhoni, though to be fair Dhoni himself has been pretty good recently. ODIs ... Dhoni >> Karthik. Tests ... Karthik has the game to be much better than Dhoni, but I guess we would never know.

WTF! The fact that he does not know how to play long innings or pace his innings doesn't mean he is selfless and others are selfish. It's a flaw in his game not something to be glorified.

What i meant was he doesn't compromise on team requirements even when he approaches a landmark. Against Pakistan it was a tricky situation where India needed quick runs but also his quest for 100 would not have hurt India's chances. But he went for the former. In a different match in a different situation he said this "We have been brought up not to play selfish cricket"

DK only got half as many chances as Rohit. Its not fair to compare.
