Really? Yes his name is chanted and he gets the biggest cheers on the grounds, doesn't mean they will stop turning up for tests if he isn't there. New heroes will emerge. ODIs in the last two series saw jampacked stadiums despite Sachin's retirement. Tests will also follow the same pattern.

That's true. Test cricket is simply not what will work in modern society today. The only reason why it is still going is due to those old guys and their loyal supporters. Once these old guys retire and the younger generation comes in, test cricket will lose. And that's what needed as both the younger audience and the global cricket sport cannot work with test cricket.

It is difficult to think of a more obnoxious cricketer than this overrated hack David Warner. Attitude matches the arrogant, condescending and general assholish character of the Ponting/McGrath/Hayden/Warne generation - only problem is in terms of ability he is nowhere near so just comes across as a total ****. He's very vocal about how much his country loves Test cricket but I can assure him, if hacks like him keep losing 4-0 then there won't be many fans left. Australian cricket fans are very fickle.

he is a mouthy little c,unt, but he is right. i have always thought that indians like individual cricketers more than cricket (or the cricket team) itself. after all, the only audiences you see at domestic games are chowkidaars and their dogs. no big names there, so who cares? this is the result of a lack of sports culture and an inclination towards hero worship. the latter is now a common trait amongst all indians, with heroes being anything from politicians to actors to cricketers. indians will fervently defend and fight for 'their guy' while ignoring everything that surrounds him. maybe it also stems from the cynicism that dogs indians throughout their lives as they struggle in a corrupt society, role models far and few in between. who knows

Bull shyt, I am sure there are more test cricket supporters in India than whole of Australian population..It is just that people don't prefer to go to grounds , especially on weekdays, due to work. People prefer to catch test cricket on Tv rather than taking days off and going to stadium..

Indian fans (and also Pakistani fans to some extent) are generally sh!t fans. First of all they have no interest in a match if India are not playing (as shown in the 2011 WC). For this reason India should never be given the Olympics or another Commonwealth games - the stadiums would be empty! Far too much jingoism. Pakistani 'fans' leave the ground after Afridi gets out. These IPL 'fans' still cheer even if the opposition are smashing boundaries. It's all just a show to them. I feel for players like Kohli, who really give their all and have a great will to win. They deserve better fans who appreciate his talent.

I saw plenty of empty stadiums during the t20 2012 world cup and even WI 2007. Infact WI 2007 was probably the worst attended tournament in the history of cricket.
