FischerTal Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Umesh Yadav, in his comeback to international cricket, looks quite fit. He is bowling 140+ on regular basis and getting wickets too in IPL. For any good result in SA, he will be our main bowling figure. I truly believe that if we can get Sreesanth/Umesh/Shami/Bhuvi combo for SA tour, we will have a fighting chance. Sreesanth+Umi is must as both are our most experienced Test bowlers, barring Lambu. Also, Sreesanth is still 30, has minimium 3-4 years left as bowler, which is enough. Combined with young talent in Shami and Bhuvi, this can be a good bowling attack not just in SA but Australia, England, NZ etc for the next 2 years of Indian test cricket, which will be overseas. thoughts?

Gunner Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Umesh, Shami and Bhuvnesh seem to our best bet to take 20 wickets in SA. I'd pick a Leg Spin bowler ahead of Ashwin or Jadeja. I'd also pick Zaheer because he's a Left armer and his experience overseas would be useful for the younger bowlers.

Plus, Irfan hasn't been that good off late to merit selection. Hope he does well in the home season before the tour to get into looks of our selectors. BTW, do you agree with the rest of the team or would you like to see any more changes??

The squad is already 17 men strong ... surely it can't be any more. By the way, how was Mukund's performance in the last season ... I don't think he had such a great season.

Mukund has done well overseas for us. lefty is important in SA esp as opener.

You say 4-0 drubbing with my team and then list the same team with just Irfan as the only exception. You say Dhawan is untested, yet you select him. You say Vijay will be found out yet he is in your list. The fact that you picked a team of 11 and I had listed a squad of 17. But if you think only having Irfan Pathan and 'I keep missing Straight Balls' Rahane apart from players in the team I listed will change India's fortune from a 4-0 drubbing to a series win ... I guess you're probably HIGH
