This should be moved to the IPL section. There is no mention of tests or ODIs in the write-up. It is best discussed there as the comparisons are between players from two pro leagues. This is not a discussion for amateurs. :winky:

My point is it was a flat track when junaid came back. I have, his highest odi score in the subcontinent, his most important knock in the subcontinent as well.

Need to give credit where its due. In ODIs he is one of the best batsmen ever, will walk into most ODI teams of any era.

Only in ICF dhoni is rated as a poor ODI batsmen and doesn't get any respect. Shame on all of you. Anybody who says Dhoni is not an ATG ODI bat, then he does not deserve to watch ODI cricket.

Junaid did bowl to him when he just came in. Also, he was struggling badly due to dehydration, cramps and all. Still the way he just kept going and going, ran with the same speed till the end showed his dedication towards the team. So? That is a flawed logic. Tendulkar's highest score is in the subcontinent as well. Sharjah storm knocks in the subcontinent too. Does that make him a FTB? You gotta to be kidding!

Almost everyone on ICF agrees that he is a very good ODI batsman who has contributed to India's ODI success in the last 3-4 years and he is respected for that. But most people here (including me) also agree on the fact that he is a poor Test batsman. Dhoni will have to perform at (at least) his current level in ODIs for another 3-4 years before he can be even considered as an ATG.

This. We have former cricketers of other countries saying India is lucky to have Dhoni. BTW I don't think anyone here labels him as a poor ODI batsman.

His few scores in CB series 2008 in tough conditions were as important as any. They may not be big but those won us the matches.

1. His career is already 8-9 years old. 2. "ATG great" isn't a term since ATG itself means all time great.

And here comes the all time great Test and ODI batsman who can refer to legends as *****ing in pants, MC/BC and what not :hatsoff: PS : Its not only about Dhoni. You haven't left anyone have you? Ranging from Ponting, Tendulkar and others who I might have missed.

I don't think Dhoni needs to do anything more to prove his greatness in ODI cricket. He is a superb judge of a situation in ODIs - when to consolidate, when to go on the attack. He has scored his runs in most major nations and routinely under pressure (can't be bothered to check the stats but I think South Africa is the only country where he has a poor record). Most importantly he has played a match winning innings in a World Cup final. However, Michael Bevan was also an ODI great but that doesn't mean so much in the grand scheme of things. Unlike Bevan, Dhoni isn't a failure in Test cricket, he is adequate. But he is no great in Test cricket and once the current craze over tamasha cricket fades away (as it inevitably will - the Indians who are currently so obsessed with tamasha will move onto something else in a few years) so will the ridiculous hype over Dhoni being the next Michael Jordan and other such rubbish.

That's so true. I don't think anybody has ever impressed him.
