Wasn't he hammered against West Indies A on british isles A tour? I think Unadkat picked up 13 wickets in the match. He had one decent game against yorkshire. But against Windies A side Unadkat totally outbowled him.
Two games against West Indies A, ages ago and you've written him off. Ridiculous. Judging people on a couple arbitrary games is how we got in this mess in the first place and how Unadkat was selected for the Test team in the first place. It is about judging people over a prolonged period of time...prolonged records.

Isn't exactly what we are doing now? Judging him based on one IPL game when the opposition is chasing 196 after losing their main man? one Ranji final?

no we all have seen him in ranj and over the period of time he has done well and showed good improvement in this season ipl just showcased improvement to public.. u can see ranji threads to see we all wanted him in mix of a team

He bowled well to those batsmen who recently trashed another team to post more than 250 runs in 20 overs. Has been doing well in Ranji and in past IPLs too. Not hyping but what's the harm in getting few chances when all and sundry like Unadkats, 3 Karnataka trundlers gets selected in Team India for nothing? By discussing here, he's not getting selected. This Karnataka trundlers only will get selected...what's the harm in discussing? He bowled well tonight, as speculated. He doesn't gets chance by pathetic MI managers....

Apart from final what exactly he has done. We blame wickets for his lack of wickets. Didn't Praveen Kumar pick up wickets exactly like that albeit with much better bowling average? Even Mithun did in a season or two. The thing is we hype way too many bowlers. 99% of them are useless. They just don't bring anything extra to the table. Bhuvaneswar is good with new ball. But i am impressed. But i can't really be sure whether he will go to the next level and go on to lead our bowling like Srinath or Zak did. They all look like support bowlers at best. Not someone who would lead an attack.

You know he was the highest wicket taker in Ranji trophy once with 41 wickets. You are talking about PK. They dont play on similar pitches. Pitches in North India mostly assist swing and seam bowlers in winters. In Gujarat and Maharshtra, you barely get any. Every bowler who debuts is a support bowler to start with. One becomes a leader when he plays, improves and becomes experienced. Steyn, Anderson, Zak, Srinath did not become lead bowlers straight away. He has been a consistent performer in FC. Mithun plays on helpful tracks at Chinna and Gangotri Glades.

You cannot say pitch is flat. His bowling partner sandhu picked up 10 wickets in the match. Balaji picked up 4 wickets

I watched this match live. There are days when you bowl as good as any but still dont get wickets and that happens in cricket. Things dont go your way. Sandhu is a very average bowler. Sandhu took wickets dont mean he is better than him. His SF and final performances were that really counted.

Its kinda funny this thread about Kulkarni has been made after an IPL performance and not his excellent performance in Ranji final :cantstop:
There must be some threads in cricket section. Search.

yeah there have been threads about Kulkarni in the cricket section for his ranji performances. The fact is he has put on some muscle in 2012. That allowed him to increase his pace by about 6-8 km per hour. That extra yard of pace has made the difference. He is only 24 and bowlers do mature at different times. The fact is both Unadkat and Kulkarni have been bowling on roads this season. They are both young and can make it to the Indian team if they show continued improvement. I thought India made a huge mistake playing Ishant so early in his career. They should have given him 3-4 seasons in the ranjis. In that sense i am glad Bhuvi has come into the side on the back of a solid ranji record over many seasons.

I had been praising Dhawal from the knockout stages of Ranji this year. He is bowling a lively fast-medium pace ( has increased his pace ), moves the ball consistently and is getting good bounce nowadays. Moreover, he is now an experienced pacer who is taking wickets and bowling objectively. He should be considered for team India ahead of many pretenders.

Another attempt to show T20 better than other forms, eh? :giggle:

I have seen him the days of his bowling where he would barely clock 125 in Ranji trophy. Now he clocks 140s in T20 and can bowl 135 or plus even in Ranji trophy.

He's always had a bit in him, I've seen him clock 140kph in previous seasons. Been a bit confused why people weren't going so crazy over him. Similar bowler to Ravi Rampaul imo. Rampaul does have a tendency to bowl a great spell and then throw it away with one poor over so let's hope Kulkarni doesn't share that feature :) PS: I do that quite a lot.
