jalebi_bhai Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 The main criteria for a captain should be his ability to inspire the best out of his players......A great captain may not necessarily be a great player but he should have the ability to command the respect of his players......he must also be charismatic and have character......there are different types of charisma....cool guy charisma like Dhobi.....passionate/forthright like Ganguly......arrogant but talented ******* like Ponting.....Street fighter/grinder type like Steve Waugh.....there are many other types.....inn sab cheezon ko nazar karte huey.....my candidate would have to be.......

jalebi_bhai Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 :agree: Yes....Rohit..... http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/598284.html Kaminey maniac.....:orderorder:
philcric Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Among the present lot .. Kohli. Yes, he has to calm down a bit but he has everything else going for him. 4 years experience of international cricket and he's only 24. At this age, Dhoni didn't even make his debut. Is a good player in all 3 formats. He's smart, both at cricket and in general. Good communication skills. Desire. This is big criteria for me.
rishi008 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Kohli would have been good bet....but after his reaction to the mumbai crowd....i wouldnt like to see him as captain....he has to change his attitude..... Rohit might turn out to be a good option...
Zelig Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Ganguly may be arrogant but he never threw his players under the bus publicly. VK needs to cool the fk down. I think he will be ready in four years' time :agree:
yoda Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Chand who hasn't even made his debut yet? LOL! Kohli has shown to have no maturity yet. On this team, at this point the only player who is in all 3 formats and shown some maturity has been Ashwin. However since he doesn't swear or showboat, he may not have all the qualities people look for in a captain.
gakgupta Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 None at this point of time.....lot might change in 3 to 4 yrs....closest would be kohli but way too arrogant to be a captain....but i like his passion to win
someone Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Let's look some points? 1. Who is the most experienced Indian cricketer from them? Raina 2. Who seems to be most well-liked by both the team and opponents? Raina 3. Who seems to have most potential? Unknown, everyone of them is rated highly. 4. Who have experience in some sort of captaincy? All of them do have with alone Raina having some experience with Indian ODI team From that above, if we go by the logical thinking, Raina deserves to be the next future captain. However, the captaincy potential is unknown for everybody. You might be a great thinker but you need some luck as a captain as well. Thus, it's ambiguous to say who is the best captain.
carnish Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Who all voted for Rohit?? Guy isn't even in the squad of Indian team and you want him to be captain. He is just a poor man's Dinesh Mongia.
Gunner Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Pujara in tests, Raina in ODIs. Kohli can be captain when he grows up.
philcric Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Ashwin is a smart guy and cricketer. He could become a good captain. Two problems though. He's a spinner (first choice spinner, but only by just), it could create a problem when playing tests overseas as you play only 1 spinner abroad and you'll always have this nagging feeling if some other spinner may be better for that particular match or series. Also sometimes (very rarely though) you may want to play 4 pace bowlers (NZ, Perth etc.) His fitness is awful. His fielding is awful. That will permeate to the rest of the team. I mean in this generation, if your young captain is unfit, he cannot demand outstanding fielding and fitness from his team.
Sachin=GOD Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Pujara in tests' date=' Raina in ODIs. [b']Kohli can be captain when he grows up. may never happen. But i'm sure if he doesn't become the Captain because of that, he'll still abuse others for his own failure to control his "aggression" .
Sidhoni Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Kohli will be fine if he plays with MSD for some more time. He should move to CSK :--D
