straighttalk Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 This is going to be a major challenge for this Government. Before blaming Congress for this, we need to understand the predicament we are in. A major display of force could easily escalate into a war or worse a matter of prestige for China. Right now diplomacy seems to be the best course of action as this would allow China to move back without much loss of face to its domestic audience. Come winter, anyhow it would be difficult for them to stay there. If things get worse, then obviously we need to be prepared for any contingencies. The only thing India could have done early on, was kill all Chinese troops who intruded into India and release a statement 15 odd Pakistani terrorists killed. But now this has just become an embarrassment, whilst we continue to use Huwai powered mobiles phones and Lenovo PCs.

vayuu1 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 To be honest during my recent visit to china,I found them one of the most humble,hardworking and respect giving people ,in their society rich and poor,men and women all are equal,though there govt is aggressive ,but people are nice,we just had a ball of time there,not only because of place,but also coz of communication or lack of it,they don't understand English ,and funny name of area's ,take for example there is a waterfront there in shanghai or near it which is called the buwnd(spelling edited),iwas like WTF ,then one of my uncle's friend was staying at a hotel namedchutian,one night it so happened that ,he went for a walk,he got confused,he hired the taxi ,who said chutian?he said yes,saala taxi Wala gol gol ghumake vapis wahi le aya,and signaled him ,it's just around corner,the uncle friend said"maayiyve,chutian chutian bol ke mera hi chewtiya bana gaya.

We will not fire the first shot but we will have to retaliate if they do so. If this sounds risky, the status quo is even worse, they can continue to capture whatever they feel like while we wait with our **** in our hands announcing 'This is the final warning, next time blah blah'.
CG Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Its the indian govt Fear of china which makes the chinese stronger.A strong response like asking to remove the ambassador or Even Agressive posturing by miitary would have been enough .But govt is involved in hundreds of problems of their creation.China would be foolish to try to go to war in current economic situation and that too with india a nuclear power unless it wants MAD.

India then Philippines ( who may not be a force to reckon with but they have treaties with America), then Japan, and as of today Vietnam. I have a feeling a bit of spine from the Indian gov. will see the Chinese back off. It is a gamble, but China is digging a hole for themselves here. The question really is what can be done. What comes off as stern and yet not so stern that it leads to escalation.
