Does anyone here feel sad about the state of Pakistan Cricket?

Yeah we all love to beat them, we all love when Pakistan gets thrashed by us or anyone. But looking at the current state of Pakistan cricket and when you compare that to the Indian Cricket, theres a gulf between the two neighboring countries. I dont know what kind of administration runs on there, what is the role of PCB in developing cricket, but after Champions Trophy match yesterday, i felt sorry for their fans and players especially. For starters i think it is a must that we should involve Pakistani players in the next season of IPL ( If at all there is one next year, I am not sure). Pakistani players needs exposure and IPL is the right platform for players to learn and master the art of cricket cos a) its a domestic tournament, b) Cricketers from all over the world participate. Theres only little we can do, and we must. Thoughts?

A team like Pakistan should adopt 7+4 strategy like India. Even with weak bowling line up India mostly adopted this policy. When i say 7.. they have to be specialists not bit part players like Hafeez. Yes 5th bowling option can cost you the game. But if you consider yourselves as bowling powerhouse then you won't need much of 5th bowling option. They have to stop being obsessive with bit part players. What happens is when they fail with bat they try to survive with ball and vice versa.. You should not give such options to them to prolong their career. Irfan pathan has much better batting skills than majority of Pakistan top order. But we never consider that as a skill and promptly dropped him until he got better in bowling. THey should go for specialist batsmen. Specialist bowlers. Specialist keeper. Things will fall in place. I know there is dearth of talent there. But they have no choice but allow them to fail for a while instead of going back and forth.

Even if Pakistani players are included in the ipl auctions, I doubt they'll find many pickers. Probably lethal and ajmal would get picked, but that's just about it.

Well, the PCB Chairman has been removed by the LHC. And a new Chairman will replace him, lets see what he does. Unless idiots leave the PCB there is nothing any country can do to help us.

They aren't that bad and we aren't that good, for us to feel so sorry for them. This is just one tournament. They just beat us 2-1 and defeated the english in tests about an year back. I remember buchanan feeling for the state of world cricket and suggesting australia lend its players to other countries, just before everything started falling apart for australia.

Just look at the strike rate . IN this T20 era that is pathetic. It is not like they have great averages like Trott. They are barely above 30 mostly under 30. I am talking about their career not just one series . They don't have good batsmen anymore. The ultra-hyped Umar Akmal tossed out like yesterday garbage. I know he sucks compared to other international players. But by Pakistan standard he is okay.

Thank god for the position they are in. Despite all that, their trolls were derailing thread after thread here after that ODI series win vs us. These losses keeps those trolls away, happy about the state they are in.

Apart from a few idiots, they have some good fans. The team is ok, not necessarily a good one. Good bowlers TBH. It's just a shame they can't produce one half decent batsman!

I think i have mentioned this before (maybe in other forums). Pakistan were a great team in the unprofessional era (till the mid 90s) . As the world gets more and more professional Pakistan are going to struggle. T20 is a format they will always be a major force like the Windies as it relies heavily on talent. But in the longer versions of the game 50 or test it will be a decline.

Agree with hhunaeh, it's way too early to make big calls based on one poor tournament (or one good tournament for India). I guarantee that if India have a poor tour in SA people will be calling for all sorts of reforms and blaming anything and everything. Similarly if the same Pakistani lineup lines up some decent wins people will start talking about how unbeatable they are. Heck, the warm up games alone were enough for people on this very forum to start making threads about Pakistan's unplayable bowling unit.

The what? T20 is for hacks and that's the reason they are successful.
