India's first game was played 10 days after the IPL finals finished. The finals contained 6 players who started for India, two from MI and four from CSK From what i have seen - we have been the most energetic team in the whole competition. Dont know if people noticed but two/three players were always backing up. Players like Kohli Raina and Rohit especially covered a lot of ground at time to act as a back up to those backing up. Lost causes were chased down with gusto. I remember Dhawan doing this. Kept running full pelt even when the ball was clearly going to win, never gave up. - there have been no injuries during the tournament. We have played the same team through the 5 matches. Its worth noting that all out pacers are below the age of 27. The bottomline is that those giving the IPL as an excuse for poor performance are wide of the mark. The fact is till now India was carrying many unfit players. Once you have young athletic players IPL or no IPL there will be a marked difference in how you play. Speaking from experience as somebody who has played T20 in local leagues (played 4 matches in a week), T20 is not that tiring at all. Your barely on the ground for about 2 hours in most cases. If your a bowler than that 4 overs. Most bowlers bowl more in the nets for practice. For test matches, you need a lot of stamina in the field. I personally think IPL has no major impact on India skills or physique wise. It probably does help build temperament.

Nailed it.....also I have seen some self-preceived elitists criticising the IPL or for the matter of fact the T20 format. Look at people saying C.T matters more than the T20 WC wins without even putting a single thought into it. Anyways besides the point,IPL is what cricket needs to thrive,I am sure this C.T would have been a lame tournament to a new generation of fans had the IPL not brought in a lot of new viewers.

We would be touring some country or the other. Most likely England where we would be the third team in a tri series. I hope any aspiring cricketer in India realizes that unless you field well you are not going to make it. The era of unfit cricketers like Ganguly and Sehwag is over. You have to field as good as Ishant at a bare minimum to make it.

That England series started in mid July and the IPL ended in May. In between was a series v WI that we won. Nobody talks about that. Quite how the IPL was to blame for us losing in Aus I dont know when that series started in December with the IPL months gone by. If you go by the IPL = tired theory you need to look at performances in the month of June. In that England series for eg Zaheer khan forgot to go on a diet and was fat as ****. Thats just lack of respect for your body and nothing to do with the IPL If i am a cricketer and start eating like no tomorrow then i have myself to blame and not the IPL.

i doubt if even ashwin is a natural athlete. But so long as if recognizes that he is not a natural athlete and make a point to work extra hard on his fitness i dont care.
