Rocky Balboa Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 C'mon guys. How many of you like Rocky movie? If u do like it, which is your favorite in Rocky series? My favorite is always Rocky I. Love the scene in which Sylvester Stallone runs in a cold winter morning holding his stomach ...Its a movie for underdogs...I was never the brightest student in my class. Sat on the backbench. Hated by teachers, hated by my manager. Left my job after kicking my colleague..lol. I haven't had the best of many things. Rocky movie taught me lot of things in my life. It taught me never to give up. I hung in there. It took 4 years for me to convince my dad that I can take care of our family business..yeah..now I proved my dad. I owe a lot to Rocky movie. What about you guys?

maniac Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Loved all 6 parts.....Part 5 is underrated too. Part 6 was kinda dissappointing. Part 1 and Part 3 are my favorites. The Villians made the movie-Me.T,Hulk Hogan,Dolph Lundgren,Appollo Creed(Carl Weathers) :hatsoff:

The scene in the Rocky Balboa, where people run on the Philadelphia museum steps, shows how a character has inspired a lot of people (including me). It made me a boxing fan, so I started following boxing and watched a lot of classic matches. Then the movie started looking like a mundane and fake looking. I learnt about the real life Rocky Chuck Wepner. He was a liquor salesman from New Jersey, who had a chance to fight Muhammad Ali. Wepner was a tough fighter with a lot of heart but little skill and a bad record, and he was most famous for frequently bleeding profusely during his bouts. The bout was intended to be a breather after Ali's iconic victory against George Foreman. He not only made it to 15 rounds but Ali failed to knock him down. Everyone thought he'd go down in the second round but he stayed up and made it all the way to the end. He even knocked Ali down. That is a true badassness. Stallone was one of the audience in this match and he wrote the script of the first rocky film. Infact, every Rocky movie is inspired from a real life boxing fight, Rocky's character itself inspired by Rocky Marciano. Rocky I - Chuck Wepner vs Muhammad Ali. Rocky II - Joe Frazier vs Muhammad Ali Rocky III - Muhammad Ali vs George Foreman. Rocky is Ali now. Every tactic Rocky follows to beat Clubber lang is done by Muhammad Ali. Rocky IV - Joe Louis vs Max Schmeling. This fight is seen as Nazi Germany vs US, just like US vs USSR in the movie. And like Schmeling, Drago dramatically won the first fight and received a vicious beating in the second, the major difference being Joe Louis was avenging his previous loss instead of the death of a friend. Max Baer, another fighter from the same era as Louis and Schmeling, may have been another influence, as Baer killed a man in the ring in a rather similar manner to how Drago killed Apollo. Rocky V - Tommy Gunn is Mike Tyson. Both were young and talented fighters who came from rough upbringings and abandoned the men who made them successes in favor of greedy businessmen. Rocky Balboa - Mason Dixon is Mike Tyson + Roy Jones Jr. Even the character George Washington Duke is inspired by a real life promoter, Don King.
