Australia to tour India for seven ODIs, one T20

Australia will tour India to play seven ODIs and a Twenty20 International in October and November. The limited-overs series will begin with the T20 in Rajkot on October 10 followed by the ODIs, which will all be day-night matches, the last of them to be played in Bangalore on November 2. The other matches will be at Pune, where the new stadium will make its ODI "debut", Jaipur, Mohali, Ranchi, Cuttack and Nagpur. Australia had toured India for a four-Test series in March this year, which they lost 4-0. They last visited India for a seven-match ODI series in October-November 2009, when they won 4-2 with the last match washed out in Mumbai. Australia's last bilateral ODI series in India was a three-match series in October 2010, of which two were washed out and India won the only game in Visakhapatnam. Both the teams will be coming on the back of busy schedules during the summer. After the Ashes in England, Australia play a five-match ODI series till September 13. India, on the other hand, will have slightly more time as their ODI series against Zimbabwe ends on August 3. However, the Champions League T20 is scheduled for September 17 to October 6, leaving only a three-day gap between the final and the T20 scheduled on October 10. Australia will then host the other leg of the Ashes starting November 21 in Brisbane.

Remember 5-test series back in 50's. They didn't care if we were a strong side nor did they say we will play them only in India. And with the condition, the Indian team currently is, we definitely need a moral booster before the South African Safari.

Why ... why can't we beat the weak Aussie side in India like they used to beat us there when we were weak. Remember 5-test series back in 50's. They didn't care if we were a strong side nor did they say we will play them only in India. And with the condition, the Indian team currently is, we definitely need a moral booster before the South African Safari.

I'm all for tests, in India or Australia. But with 7 ODIs in SC conditions CA will get to blood their young team before they arrive for their test tour. While being of no use for us. How sure are you of this morale booster theory? The Champions Trophy wasn't enough of a "morale boost" to beat WI in WI but beating a down and out Australia 7-0 will do the magic for us in SA?

About the Moral Booster theory ... CT was the big tournament. How can you gain confidence for a PIDDI tounament after winning the Big ONE. Its the reverse case in case of the scheduled ODI series. It will be the PIDDI tournament before the big one. Our record against Australia in ODIs is more pathetic than tests. We need to improve. Moreover when we travel to Australia, we play 8 ODIs even if we don't make it to the finals of the Tri-Series. No one seems to complain when a Tri-Series is played like 3 bilaterals with each team facing each other 4 times. About CA blooding their younsters for tests in India, I don't think they play tests in India till another 4 years. It won't make much difference as most of their team will be changed by then.

I think a lot of people are underestimating australia,they might lose to us but not without fight.

This ODi series ends on 2nd November, the SA tour is likely to start on 16th Nov (SOURCE). Send the team to SA latest by 10th Nov please, if possible the test specialists like Vijay, Pujara and a few others a little earlier

I see the morale booster theory has evolved recently. Does it make sense to you that winning a big tournament doesn't give you confidence to win a small tournament??? Secondly, you seem to be concerned about revising our historical record against the Aussies by getting a bunch of easy matches in against a depleted side. I'd rather that our record take care of itself instead of us actively working towards it. Re. Your last point, the good players will stick around in the side for longer than 4 years and these are the players CA would be concerned with getting some SC experience.
