JaFanatic Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 sachin is a fighter .. but it doesnt mean that other players are not :winky: well, this is the first time i heard this :cantstop:
randomGuy Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Dhoni coz India never won any major trophies in Sachin's entire career from 1990 till Dhoni came and became captain. If the question was about India greatest ODI batsman, the answer could have been different. Dhoni is a great captain, great ODI batsman and a smart wicket keeper. The other thing unrelated to the question is that many of Sachin fans can be unreasonable like someone who sarcastically brought in Mohanty in regards to the question in topic.
BeautifulGame Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 yea dhoni won us a dozen cups with his performance eh ? at least ganguly leads from the front when it comes to dhoni its just the matter of leading a pack of top form players Like failing to score a single 50 against test playing nations in 2003 world cup :hmmm:

Err, India also didnt win in 90s because we didnt have a better bowling or fielding or young guys like Kohli and Gambhir. You are insulting all of them if you think we won only because of Dhoni We did qualify to the WC 2003 finals where we were against a rampaging Australia. Are you saying Australia of 2003 and SL of 2011 were of the same caliber? That Dhoni would have won against that Aussie team in SA grounds?
JaFanatic Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Like failing to score a single 50 against test playing nations in 2003 world cup :hmmm: still more runs and better avg than dhoni
Sachin=GOD Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I find that extremely belittling for the man that hes stood up to be really - its a 6 match face off multi nation tourney - u play the 1st one well enough - follow it up with 2 strong knocks - 2 potentially great ones under the circumstances - and if he plays a match winning one in the final one as well...........baaki log kya karne aaye hain?? and then my friend with all due respect you wouldn't be a member of ICF more like ITF. i have been 'warned' maybe i shud bring down my colloquialism - stick to the official language of the forum. well, till date most of your posts, even though they may be on topic, seem to be on a topic which nobody can recognize..
BeautifulGame Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 still more runs and better avg than dhoni MOM in WC final vs runs against Kenya and Namibia . Sure
adi B Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Here is my list of India's top ten ODI cricketers 1. Sachin 2. Ganguly 3. Dravid 4. Dhoni 5. Kohli 6. Kapil 7. Yuvraj 8. Srinath 9. Gambhir 10. Zaheer :beee: pretty much but kapil ahead of kohli

It was not dhoni who won the WC it was India.
adi B Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Fair enough-after all Ganguly has won us zero cups What about that 50 runs in 30 balls scenario? 2003 wc remains india`s best wc run along with 1983..even dhoni would not have done sh1t against that aussie side
vamos_rafa Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 2003 wc remains india`s best wc run along with 1983..even dhoni would not have done sh1t against that aussie side That's pretty subjective isn't it?
JaFanatic Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 MOM in WC final vs runs against Kenya and Namibia . Sure Surely many would give MOT to gambhir's performance thats very questionable indeed eventhough ganguly didn score those tons in final it helped us reach the final wonder what msd did to get us to the finals in the whole tournament
adi B Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 performance in ICC odi events yuvi mott wc 2011,sachin mott 2003 ,ganguly 7 tons in icc odi events dhoni besides the wc finals was pretty mediocre throughout the tournie, atrocious 2007 wc,avg CT 09,avg CT 2013 with the bat
JaFanatic Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 and ppl say he is a better ODI player than ganguly :wall:
BeautifulGame Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Surely many would give MOT to gambhir's performance thats very questionable indeed eventhough Dhoni's was the best knock at a far superior SR to Gambhir.Upped the SR when Gambhir was stuggling to keep of the pressure and carried India after Gambhir again had a Afridi-esque brainfart. At the end of 30th over the Req Run Rate was well above 6 an over with us still needing 125 runs. After that Gambhir scored 21 from 28 balls and Dhoni scored 79 from 58 balls. ganguly didn score those tons in final it helped us reach the final wonder what msd did to get us to the finals in the whole tournament Didnt score a single fifty against test playing nation in the whole tournament

Its hilarious how some are trying to downplay Dhoni's knock in the final At the end of 30th over the Req Run Rate was well above 6 an over with us still needing 125 runs. After that Gambhir scored 21 from 28 balls and Dhoni scored 79 from 58 balls. Didnt score a single fifty against test playing nation in the whole tournament gambhir played the more valusble innings he lifted us when most thought we're finished we were in a pretty good situation when he got out even a raina could have finished the innings from that point ganguly is a far superior player than dhoni in world cups he avgs 55 batting at the top yea he didn score a 50 against top teams in 2003 so was dhoni in fact couldn score a fifty against even a minnow team
BeautifulGame Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 gambhir played the more valusble innings he lifted us when most thought we're finished we were in a pretty good situation when he got out even a raina could have finished the innings from that point We were in a good position when he got out because of Dhoni's knock at a high SR.He scored crucial runs but way too slowly. As i mentioned earlier At the end of 30th over the Req Run Rate was well above 6 an over with us still needing 125 runs. After that Gambhir scored 21 from 28 balls and Dhoni scored 79 from 58 balls. ganguly is a far superior player than dhoni in world cups he avgs 55 batting at the top yea he didn score a 50 against top teams in 2003 so was dhoni in fact couldn score a fifty against even a minnow team Yeah sure whatever floats ur boat :haha:
