NareshK Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Who do you think will be a regular batsman for India in ODIs at this position ? 1) Dinesh Kartik - seems to have decent technique but cant seem to get the runs at the moment. Let's see how he bats in the remaining ODIs in tri series and Zim series. 2) Cheteswar Pujara - selected for Zim series. He could be asked to bat at this spot as openers are doing well and Kohli has owned No.3 spot. His List A record is excellent and technique, temperament are very good as he is a very good Test batsman. He could be a batsman who could rotate the strike, build partnerships in the middle overs. Only question mark is his fitness - how well he can field, run between the wickets or avoid injuries in the middle of a series. Can he clear the boundary when its required ? 3) Ambati Rayudu - picked for this series as well as Zim series. He is a good batsman, has done well in IPL and FC recently. Has the capability to score runs but I have a doubt about his ability to play good quality pace bowling. I'm interested in seeing how he does when given a chance. 4) Manoj Tiwary - selected in the squad many times in the past but very unlucky never to get a chance to play and prove himself. He seems to be injured at the moment because he is not picked for Zim series. He could be another good option in the middle order. He is also a very good fielder. 5) Yuvraj Singh - can he make a comeback again ? One of the most destructive batsmen in ODI cricket. But struggled with form of late and couldnt score runs against some decent pacers and spinners even at home. His fitness is also an issue. Yuvraj at his best will be a huge advantage to this side. 6) Gautam Gambhir - Had problems as an opener and dropped. Can he bat in the middle order ? He is an excellent player of spin which will come in handy in the middle overs. Has a good average in ODIs and was consistent and reliable for a while.
JaFanatic Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 i would suggest kohli to bat at no.4 he avgs 63 in that position pujara should bat no.3, cos both kohli and pujara can do well at both no.3 and 4 but kohli seems to be better than pujara in accelerating the pace of the innings as pujara is yet to be tested in ODIs with pujara kohli and msd at no.3, 4 & 5 its one hell of a line up :woot:
JaFanatic Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Stuart Binny or Manpreet Juneja :agree: what did he do in List A matches to claim a spot ahead chintu, jadhav and jaggi in ODIs ?
SLICKR392 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 i would suggest kohli to bat at no.4 he avgs 63 in that position pujara should bat no.3, cos both kohli and pujara can do well at both no.3 and 4 but kohli seems to be better than pujara in accelerating the pace of the innings as pujara is yet to be tested in ODIs with pujara kohli and msd at no.3, 4 & 5 its one hell of a line up :woot: Should not mess with Kohli's position. He should be glued there and have Pujara open with Dhawan. :good:
omkarkiran Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 considering future of Team India, Pujara & Tiwari could do better for that position...
JaFanatic Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Should not mess with Kohli's position. He should be glued there and have Pujara open with Dhawan. :good: i dont want to remove rohit unless he becomes outta form/fails to give a good start # Dhawan and Rohit were involved in a stand of 123 — India's highest opening partnership in the West Indies, eclipsing the 116 (unbroken) between Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar vs West Indies on April 27, 1997. # Dhawan and Rohit have shared three century stands — the most by any pair in ODIs this year. # Dhawan and Rohit have completed 500 runs in partnership aggregate for the opening wicket, totalling 542 in eight innings, including three stands of 100-plus and two fifty-plus, at an average of 67.75. Their average is the highest amongst the Indian opening pairs with 500 runs or more in ODIs.
carnish Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 what did he do in List A matches to claim a spot ahead chintu' date=' jadhav and jaggi in ODIs ?[/quote'] Chintu will open ANd Binny is Tailunt ... He doesn't need to do anything. :protest:
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 rohit sharma should move down to 4 and let murali and shikhar open. raina v karthik should be the 5 spot battle
SLICKR392 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 rohit sharma should move down to 4 and let murali and shikhar open. raina v karthik should be the 5 spot battle Now that's an invincible line up. :headshake:
Old guy Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 i would suggest kohli to bat at no.4 he avgs 63 in that position pujara should bat no.3, cos both kohli and pujara can do well at both no.3 and 4 but kohli seems to be better than pujara in accelerating the pace of the innings as pujara is yet to be tested in ODIs with pujara kohli and msd at no.3, 4 & 5 its one hell of a line up :woot: This..
Ultimate_Game Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Kedar Jadhav. The guy averages 52 in List A cricket with 4 100s and a SR of 108!!! He deserves a go in odis. Pujara should bat in the top 3 and not any lower.
JaFanatic Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Kedar Jadhav. The guy averages 52 in List A cricket with 4 100s and a SR of 108!!! He deserves a go in odis. Pujara should bat in the top 3 and not any lower. And the best part is he bats at 3, 4 & 5 in list A matches so he is not just a top order batsman if raina goes out of form i'll get this guy in at 5 immediately
jalebi_bhai Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 It's a bit of a dilemma.....Rohit seems to be doing ok as an opener....finally appears to be settled...I'd keep him there......Pujara at 4 would be my pick.......can rotate the strike really well and seems to be the most technically proficient batsman of our current generation.......
Cricashfaq Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Shikhar Dhawan will hold the opener place for quite some time...Rohit Sharma can improve a bit more than now...I'd prefer Raina for the no.4 batsman or Dinesh Karthik
BleedBlue Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I think ambati rayudu deserves a chance in the top order but i feel sorry for Tiwary but he needs to sort himself out before he gets back into the team
JaFanatic Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 dhawan chepu kohli yuv/nohit dhoni should be the order rohit down to middle order ? that too yuvi competing with him ? on what basis :cantstop:
