Lord Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 How many times have we ripped the credits off the captain because of a good side? 100+ test matches as a successful captain' date=' if that's not good to be the best right now, what is?[/quote'] I was joking.Smith indeed is best right now followed by Cook
JaFanatic Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 That's bcos no one hypes him..English and Aussie media called dale steyn pattinson of south Africa attack:hysterical: wtf :cantstop:
Old guy Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 wtf :cantstop: Its true..happened during last Aussie tour:giggle: Patto got injured in next game B->
vvvslaxman Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Cook is a "method" captain not innovative or instinctive. He just goes in with bunch of strategies and hope his players execute them well. So far his players have responded reasonably well. The day his players start being a little scratchy he will be tested. Dhoni rarely attends team meetings. So he doesn't appear to go in with more strategies. http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=294301 Here is a discussion on Clarke's captaincy.
SLICKR392 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 he is a successful captain but i dont rate him as the best Who do you rate as the best currently? As Carnish said, among the current lot, Smith's the best.
vvvslaxman Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Who do you rate as the best currently? As Carnish said' date=' among the current lot, Smith's the best.[/quote'] Smith has vast experience compared to the rest. Led his side well both as a player and captain. South Africans hate ABDV to be their captain. They think ABDV is too laid back to be their captain. Smith definitely brings in more intensity. Cronje is the best they ever had. Smith is second best.
JaFanatic Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Who do you rate as the best currently? As Carnish said' date=' among the current lot, Smith's the best.[/quote'] he is captaining the best test team in world cricket at the moment couldn win a single ICC tourney despite having one of the best teams in ODIs. i dunno if he can fare well without this team
Old guy Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 he is captaining the best test team in world cricket at the moment couldn win a single ICC tourney despite having one of the best teams in ODIs. i dunno if he can fare well without this team But he made this team.. Literally helped each and every player in this team to set in and become world class. And touring away from home his attitude is best..and most importantly he leads from front.. Who else is better ?

Did he not play with the same squad in ODIs as well and gained way less success than Test? That shows he is a good Test captain. 100+ Tests as captain surely makes him one of the best.

adi B Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 no captain is special ATM,smith is best of the lot, cook is crap
BeautifulGame Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Clarke is def the most attacking captain ATM.Probably that's what Warne was saying when u read the whole article. Smith and cook are very defensive just like Dhoni
cowboysfan Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 One could argue that Clarke is the worst captain in the world and defintely the worst man manager.
Crookbond Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Clarke is def the most attacking captain ATM.Probably that's what Warne was saying when u read the whole article. Smith and cook are very defensive just like Dhoni +1 He's still the most *****h** captain as well.

Smith and cook are very defensive just like Dhoni There was period when SA during India tour would play for draw from day one. I remember Andrew hall's 100. They bored the hell out of us. They never used to go for wins from the get go. They will play defensively and see where the match goes. Based on that they will make their move. One of the reason they couldn't whitewash teams as much as Australia did in their prime.

Crookbond Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 The reason why SA have done well in India is because they play such passive aggressive game. They are not dominating and will never be - irrespective of whether they have a good team or not.
