Lord Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Agreed. Poor runner/fielder yes. But until we find a better ODI batsman (for non-subcontinent) better than Raina and Yuvi. I'd first try Rahane/Rayudu.I think Rahane in middle order can do better than he did opening
hhunaeh Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 We play odis before tests in kiwi land too. i think it is a 5 odi series. If we win the series in the 1st few matches then we should play all our test players for the final 2 or 1 odis.
saneindian Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Will eventually play in the ODIs at some stage. But still feel he may struggle like VVS, not due to skills, but due to his bad knees.
maniac Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 No slots open for him though....I still think Raina/Yuvraj in form will be more effective than Pujara in LOI's
fineleg Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 No slots open for him though....I still think Raina/Yuvraj in form will be more effective than Pujara in LOI's Form is a big issue with both Raina and Yuvi. When and how are they going to find form, will they get a longer rope than the loooong rope they have now? Secondly - for Raina - ODI in fast pitches with chin music is not the same as in India. Yuvi in form can handle that though.

SO dielemma is to where to fir him

express bowling Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 With the 2 new balls rule, we need Pujara at no.4 in ODIs. The LOI experts like Raina are finding it more difficult with the balls remaining harder and zippier.
zep1706 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 With the 2 new balls rule' date=' we need Pujara at no.4 in ODIs. The LOI experts like Raina are finding it more difficult with the balls remaining harder and zippier.[/quote'] I have always advocated it, Pujara is essential in ODIs in these conditions. You don't need him on flat pitches in India but the next world cup is in Australia. He could come really handy there.

Our no.4 position in ODIs is looking vulnerable if the conditions are pace friendly or there is a genuine quick in the attack who is bowling well.
Tailender Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Why should india change a batting order doing quite well? Pujara needs to bide his time.
veer Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Get pujara for overseas ODIs for anchor role.. and keep hacks for sub continent games.
Cricketics Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Get pujara for overseas ODIs for anchor role.. and keep hacks for sub continent games. Bhaisaab, jara vistaar mein spefic hoke naam le "hacks" ke so that we can spark some debate and drama. You know I like to light the fire.

Cricketics Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Raina..he has batted like hack for some time now Haveu forgotten project raina ? I still back Raina. May be not the thermocol breaking batting he did at the new projected order, but still would like to see him get a go and see how good he is. For the order he has batted most of the time, he has been consistent for us. His order has been changed to adjust Kohli, Rahane, Pujara, Gambhir you name it, so many players who came in an out of the team since his debut. So I believe, he deserve few more games.

His game is suited for slogging at end And yuvraj and rains have been big flops in Australia anyway so I will drop one of them and get pujara at 3 and Kohli at 4 We don't need more than 3 Hitters anyway as all of our batsmen can score quickly but we do need someone who can take on bowlers with bowl swinging or bouncing in Australia with pujara in we will have the most solid and also most explosive top 4 with either rains or yuvi at 5 and dhoni at 6 And all rounder at 7
jj_28 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Dhawan Rohit Kohli is a settled front 3, can Pujara play at 4? Raina, Yuvraj, Rahane are probably competing for the 4 & 5 spot right now.
Pagalpanti Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Remove UV and bring in ChePu Dhawan Rohit Kohli ChePu Dhoni Raina Jadeja A solid looking middle order that and a much needed fire power in the end.

Doesnt mean I dont like them as a player.. those guys are hard working , commited players.. but they lack skills to tackle bounce and seaming conditions
