The pools, venues and fixtures of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will be announced simultaneously in Melbourne and Wellington at 0000 GMT on Tuesday 30 July.

hmm if its the 1992 format then IMO India will struggle. We are better with the 2011 format. I dont think India have ever hit the ground running in a WC. Managed it in this champions trophy. The other good news for India is that we tour Aus in 2014/2015. Getting used to the conditions should not be an issue. We will know our combo well.

Not true. India has been a consistent side in ODIs and this format will suit them more. We only lost 1 game in WC 2011 as well. Sides which win some games and try to get through by NRR at the end will feel the heat more.

Having googled around i doubt a 1992 format can happen. It will probably be the 1996/2011 format 2 groups of 7, QF---->Semi----->Final With 14 teams IMO the 1992 format is not possible. It would mean each team playing 13 matches. Most likely what will happen is India-Pak in one group, Aus-England in another. So the rivalries which bring ICC money are played.

agree. But i dont think the ICC wants another repeat of the 2007 World cup and neither would the hosts Australia or NZ. That cost them major bucks because india played only 2 matches in that WC. While the ICC also want developing teams to participate. Which means 14 teams. Therefore the 1992 format cannot be played. Most other major sports too usually have a knockout format football WC, rugby union WC all have a QF-SF-F system. So i doubt cricket is doing something different. It forms a compromise between economic heavyweights of cricket playing x number of games and also including minnows so that they can more exposure As i said before, i will be extremely surprised if India-Pak group stage clash is not there and Aus-England clash is not there. These two matches are the money makers for the ICC and ACB/NZ. 1999 WC 2003 WC we have always played Pak in the group stages and were scheduled to play them in 2007 (till BD and Ireland did their thing). Unless its in India IMO India-Pak is destined to happen all of the time at ICC events. ITs a money spinner.

You can always have 2 groups of 7 teams each and have top two sides from each group reach the Semis or have 14 teams play against each other - slightly longer format but most games will have importance (like Champions Trophy) unlike other formats where many of the 1st round games dont have significance. The bottom line is consistent sides should reach the Semis so that the eventual champions are deserving winners.

Its a grueling 4 test + Tri series with Aus and England. You could say while it may give the necessary experience, may cause player-burn out as well.

fair enough semis and finals can be done. That will add an edge to the group games and also cut short the tournament by a week

I am going 100%. Who ever will be travelling from USA let me know. We should have party atmosphere in Australia. I am sure India will play all it's group games in Australia since big grounds and more money value would be seem over India playing at NZ fields which has less capacity.
