putrevus Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 1992 world cup format was ridiculous, round robin format does not reward the most consistent side, Pakistan on basis one fluke innings upset the most consistent side of the whole world cup and NZ still ended with more wins than so called champion. You cannot have champion having less wins than some other team. you need to have eliminator game like IPL where in top team in group stages get to go final directly.
adi B Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 the 92 format was pretty crap,wc matches should have selectivity and not like every team playing the other,a WC format in any sport should have groups and then knockouts..the 99,03 wc formats were good tbh

In every other case best team always won.You want to crown best team as world cup winner and not the luckiest/flukiest team.

India-KXIP fan Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 MCG WC final, 100000 people! Farkkk :yay: All with vuvuzela's of course :giggle: :vroam:
philcric Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 2011 WC was a success only because India won it. The format itself wasn't good. The first round matches (42 matches out of total of 49 matches)hardly had any significance. I like the '92, '99, '03 formats. Basically knock outs should start from SF stage, not QF stage.
Asim Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Like u guys I won't call 92 format the best because Pakistan won and 2011 format the worst because India won :cantstop: I honestly feel 2007 format was ideal, its just poor Pakistan & India ruined it...
Asim Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 congratulations. when was this? "where was this" more relevant right now ;)

Haarkarjeetgaye Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 "where was this" more relevant right now ;) where and when was this?:haha: was it staged or fixed?
deathmonger Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 "where was this" more relevant right now ;) Not really. Past doesn't matter, present does. And Pakistan does not have the ability to bat outside SC in ODIs. It'll be a QF exit I believe if 2011 system. If 92 system then first round exit. (Again, not bias. Just facts. Pakistan have had first round exits in both world cups which were outside SC in last ten years. Will do well in 2023 though). As for Pakistanis who believe in destiny repeating itself etc etc all I can say is destiny should have repeated itself on 15th June and Pakistan should have maintained their no loss record against India in CT rite?:--D
Asim Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 where and when was this?:haha: was it staged or fixed? Har worldcup ko "2011" jaisa samjha hey kya? :--D

Realistically analyzing Pak team's current situation, u may be right but I believe nothing can b predicted this early for Pak, 2 years still a long way to go... Situation can improve alot as well as can go further down but even then u can't predict :D
saneindian Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Have the round robin format with just top 10 teams please We had perhaps our crappiest WC squad in 1992 - Full of noobies Sachin, Jadeja, Kambli, Srinath, Bannerjee, Raju, Amre. Despite that lost 2-3 matches narrowly - by a run vs Aus, by 9 runs vs Eng, both matches we should have won but for some crazy collapses and had the match vs SL rained off..some luck and could have been in semis :(( Thankfully I wasn't old enough to feel much pain, was happy to see Sachin do well :)) This time, with so many ODIs coming up, we will have a decently experienced squad with plenty of exposure of playing ODIs away from home. Bring it on.
G_B_ Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 We have the commonwealth bank series with Aus and England after we play 4 tests...... :hatsoff: to BCCI we have the best prep for the tournament as we will be in the country of Aus for nearly 2 months before the start of the tournament. The only thing which might count against us is that we get smashed in the tests and that shatters the confidence. Flip side to that is that we win the series and gain big momentum
