Executioner Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 For a #6' date=' #7, he is a more than a decent bat.[/quote'] i think he is ok for a number 7 :two_thumbs_up: But he should concentrate on bowling, i dont think he can be a top class batsman but a top class bowler
BeautifulGame Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 i think he is ok for a number 7 :two_thumbs_up: But he should concentrate on bowling, i dont think he can be a top class batsman but a top class bowler He has 3 triple hundreds in Ranji. He definitely has the potential to be an excellent bat
Executioner Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 He has 3 triple hundreds in Ranji. He definitely has the potential to be an excellent bat ofcourse he does. But I think it would be best for him to work on his bowling because India needs a left-arm spinner more than a batsman. He has a lot to work on his batting still, but I think he could prove to me a quality finisher 6 batsman are more than enough for the world's best ODI batting lineup, whatever jadeja offers should be a bonus. I think jadeja can be the Indian vettori....infact, I think he will easily surpass vettori statistically considering the fact that Vettori didnt geto to bowl too much on spin friendly wickets. I wish him all the best for the future :hatsoff:
Vilander Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 http://www.relianceiccrankings.com/playerdisplay/odi/bowling/?id=1911 Anil Kumble - Highest Ranking > 1 - ( 06/11/1996 ) when did the rankings start ? no retroactive bs pls.
Sajid_Rana Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Congrats to Jadeja and his fans. He certainly is in good form this year but the way these rankings work is confusing. Sine Jan 2013 Anderson and Kiwi McClenaghan have better average and S/R than Jadeja and deserve more than him to be # 1 ODI bowler. Jadeja have more wickets than both but also have played double number of matches. If you look at stats of this year how come Narine is sharing joint ranked 1 bowler. He has been decent but not worthy of top rank with so many other bowlers doing better this year. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=2;filter=advanced;orderby=bowling_average;qualmin1=20;qualval1=wickets;spanmin1=01+Jan+2013;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling
Temujin Khaghan Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 if we consider 1 wicket roughly equals 25 runs... 38 wickets is like getting 950 runs + 380 in batting = 1330 in a calender year so far so that way jadeja contributed twice as much as kohli and dhawan who made 600+ runs this year so far --- of course its a rough calculation... did not consider strike rates... and many other things

surajmal Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 If the current improvement in his game is real then Jaddu can become the best ODI player in the world. Guy contributes in every facet. Who'd thunk?! :hatsoff:
The Outsider Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 when did the rankings start ? no retroactive bs pls. Individual player rankings have been around for ages, at least since the 80s. They were called PwC ratings earlier.
cowboysfan Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 If the current improvement in his game is real then Jaddu can become the best ODI player in the world. Guy contributes in every facet. Who'd thunk?! :hatsoff: isn't he already the best odi player? best bowler and 2nd best all rounder and one of the best fielders too.
surajmal Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 isn't he already the best odi player? best bowler and 2nd best all rounder and one of the best fielders too. He is playing like the best ODI player in the world but I want to see him do it for another year before shouting it from the rooftops. Needs to also show a bit more with the bat to prove that those 300s on a patta contained some substance.
