Spinners always have high average and SR in comparison to pacers.
and some people believe pace is not important.

Feel that Morne Morkel will be replaced with Marchant de Lange for the India series..Kyle Abbot is another south african to keep an eye on.(got a 7fer in his debut test)

Philander overrated. Would get pasted in India and I mean pasted! Only good for certain wickets which SA will prepare for him
How on earth is a guy with an avg. of 17 overrated?

Dhawan's form will set the tone of the series as far as India's batting is concerned. If he gets India off to a confident start, the middle order will deliver. If India is 20/2 in every innings, expect sub-200 scores.

Well Said OP ... I have been saying this for a while now ... If we play Philander well and not give him early wickets, we will win the series easily.

As good as Philander is...he is yet to bowl to the greatest batsman of the modern era. Lets see how he goes against Kohli :agree:
:hysterical: if you are talking about Kohli.

Kohli has not set the world alight in the test arena. When i saw him making his debut v WI in WI i had big doubt about him. Kohli for me will get you centuries but i somehow doubt his consistency. Is bound to average in the 40s in tests. Pujara is India future in the test matches.

The result of the SA series will largely depend on how Dhawan, Pujara, Kohli plays Philander.Iam doubtful about Vijay & Tendulkar. The no 6 slot should go to batsman like Rayuddu,Rahane instead of Jadeja
