Sidhoni Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Batting : The A team which has at least 4-5 batsmen likely to play in the series(Dhawan, Pujara, Rohit, Rahane, Vijay) collapsed in the second test to a little known Hendricks. What will they do against likes of Steyn, Morkel and Philander might just decide the series Bowling : We do have a decent bowling line up but barring Zak(who is not sure to go) everyone else among the fast bowlers will be on their first tour to South Africa with the national team. Spin bowling won't be as big a factor though we do have two good spinners in Ashwin and Jadeja. Ojha may also be picked as backup. Fielding : We have some very good fielders in Vijay, Kohli, Rohit, Rahane but is Ashwin good enough to be a long term slip fielding option in tests? And in any case, we saw many dropped catches against spin in the Aussies series so we do have to find a decent slip fielder apart from him.
saneindian Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Add Captaincy and Wicketkeeping to the options as well.
Sidhoni Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 Add Captaincy and Wicketkeeping to the options as well. Can't add now. Please ask any mod to do so.
G_B_ Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Add Captaincy and Wicketkeeping to the options as well. :cantstop: low blow man low blow..... On the issue at hand, for me batting remains the biggest worry. Bowling wins you matches but batting IMO helps you draw them atleast.
Detonator Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Neither. I guess selecting is even bigger concern.
King Tendulkar Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Add Captaincy and Wicketkeeping to the options as well.:--D

Haarkarjeetgaye Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I do understand I may be dreaming here but I think we will do well in all the three. Fielding is not so important in tests. catching is

Lord Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 batting especially against the new ball batting against old ball is comparatively much easier so I'd go out the box and bat Pujara at 4 and Kohli at 4,so they can bat big and help us make big scores.Won;t happen though

Debutant Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Batting. If we can score 400 then bowlers will take care of the rest. In worst case, there will be draws. Most of our batsmen are untested in those conditions. So, if they fail, then we are gonna be whitewashed

Lord Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Playing old ball against steyn is equally tough tbh but atleast Philander can be negotiated
Fontaine Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Donkey isn't going so I'm less concerned about our bowling.
