oh haha :D But, I didn't call even when I was in India :embarassed:
Similar situation here, I have relatives in India who are mighty pissed that I don't call them from the US. In my defense, I was like this even before I came to the US, so at least I haven't **changed** :giggle: Most of my relatives are good, mean well, are happy if you do well, come visit me when I am in India even if I don't have the time to make it to their house, etc. There are ofc the few who you could live without knowing they exist.

Families are drifting apart. Earlier it is used to be like a joint family, elders used to decide everything - from marriages to the color of paint in others' houses. With jobs moving out to different cities/countries, families are also distant geographically and naturally emotionally as well. I am still in touch with first cousins and parents' siblings. Beyond that, it becomes tedious.

First of all do you care for tour relatives? Not just caring within you, do you go extra miile to show them that you care for them? If your answer is no, you have no rights to expect them to care for you! Give more, and expect less.

I have found that the mentality of some relatives baffling..you can care as much as you want but if there heart is full of greed and jealousy, what can you do? Some are as long as you arent doing as well as me its ok! You can help as much as you want, but true friends are the ones who stand by you and help you when you want and vice versa!!

My parents, my bro and me have been living a completely secluded life since the last 6 years here in the US. Both of my parents were just used and abused by their own families and relatives so they cut all contact with them. I still talk with my cousin sister in India who I'm very close to but have not seen her since I came to the US. We pretty much have no relatives whatsoever who we even keep in contact with..much less "care" about them, lol.

Sorry to sound harsh' date=' but it's time for you to stop caring about whether they care, and get on with your life.[/quote'] I'd beg to differ. I for one absolutely care what my relatives have to say, whether or not they care etc. I would be terribly upset if I found out that the various aunts and uncles who saw me grow up,and the cousins I shared childhood games just stopped caring. I can't answer the OP's question, but I absolutely care about my relatives. I'm in touch with almost all my relatives, and meet quite a few of them very frequently. And I have a biiiiig extended family. I even speak very frequently to those relatives who are out of the country and visit them occasionally. ( Helps save on Hotels too :D ) In this age, with all communication gadgets at our disposal and communication being dirt cheap, not being in touch is really inexcusable.

my major problem with relatives is the gossip-mongering business ... esp the female cousins if iam in a problem and i share it with my friend... only my best friends will know about it (not the entire college... i.e. when i was in college) but if i share it with my cousins... my entire clan will know about it... there is no privacy at all... my relatives want to know everything about me periodically and relay it to the entire world... stupid people. ------------------------------------- if anything happens to me... good or bad this will be the order, they will be notified 1. parents, brother 2. best friends 3. good friends 4... a few days later 5. "relatives"

just pretend you have won some obscure lottery and have come into great wealth. And then see them change
