Doesn't it skew averages in favour of tail enders/ mid order batsmen who may make 30-40 winning runs and not get out, whereas openers could score centuries and get out and yet end up with lower averages in the long run? Strange method. I wish they had this in my school. For aggregate % marks divide only by number of subjects you've studied for.

Obviously, it's not a perfect method, but the counter argument would be why penalize someone who the opposition could not dismiss in the requisite overs or who was left stranded because the tail got out before the opposition could dismiss him? It's not possible to rely on a single stat or even a handful to decisively proclaim X>Y.

Yeah, that's why the good finishers like Bevan & Dhoni etc had such wonderful averages and I think its a fair rule too.

Never understood why every indian fan have somehow assumed that EVERY Pakistani hates Misbah. I had so many around who actually appreciate Misbah more than any other current Pakistani player... But.. its not completely you guys fault either, we all know we had Afridi fans here in a huuge number and obviously any Afridi fan wont ever like Misbah, why else he is an Afridi fan...

now i trust you are a girl/lady.. :) pretty endearing that you did not know about the average calculation.. the calculation is not skewed if you look at it carefully. In tests = it does not matter there is no end to number of overs. in LOI = players who come down the order have lesser balls to score, they will in aggregate face similar number of scoring opportunities in multiple games as a top order bat faces in a single game, now even if they remain not out in a game they wont stay not out in all their innings leading up to them facing similar number of scoring opportunities as a top order bat. Hence it evens out in time. If you want a live example look at players like Ashwin they will initially have better batting averages only to settle down to more realistic ones eventually.

But nevertheless, Misbah really should be last person to be criticized given how he is only one who has played well for the team continuous. He becomes a scapegoat everytime and never understood that logic from various Pakistan fans.
