There is no gaurantee of any money but fixing increases the odds BTW, are you related to Meyippan by any chance?

i dont think anybody fixed matches. Even Sreesanth, Chandila and Chavan are nicked for spot fixing. Which is a particular event in a match for which you can get long odds. I guess you can say the nature of the spot fix meant that it was hard for a side to win. But not outright match fixing. Regardless of match fixing or spot fixing Mayapan had inside knowledge. For all we know Gurunath made lots of profits on who would play the game due to inside knowledge and made huge losses on the result. The fact that he lost money is not of significance. The issue at hand is did he benefit from inside info? I am talking individual bets and not the whole picture. What pisses me off the most about all this is that Mayapan was a team principal. Nothing can really change that fact. As per IPL rules CSK and RR ( considering even Kundra bet on matches) should have gone. Franchises dissolved and new ones floated from these cities to replace them. Its only because of Srini that CSK are still there. We all saw how the rules were (rightly) applied to the Deccan franchise.
