adi B Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 windies team looks stronger than what they had in 011.. the batsmen are good enough to rake up high scores if the pitches are flat,if they are turning then god help them..their bowling does not look too strong,pitches where the aus pacers were hammered in all the test matches,i dont expect roach or best to wreck havoc!!

But the travellers plan to beat India and upset the country's plans of a grand farewell to its favourite son. Addressing media in St. Kitts on Sunday, coach Ottis Gibson said presence of experienced players in the squad should help the team do better than the last time they toured India, while admitting that it won't be easy. "We are not saying we cannot beat India, but we know it is going to be tough. The last time we went to India, we had a couple of inexperienced guys and we put up a good show. So hopefully this time with a bit more experience, we can go one better and win the series. There is no reason why we can't," Gibson said. he Windies have not played Test cricket for some time, and and the team is training hard during a fitness and medical camp to ensure players stay fit as the team will be on the road for a long time. Following their India tour, West Indies will tour the New Zealand for three Tests, five ODIs and two T20s. "Things have been going well; the doctors haven't reported anything untoward to me as yet, so fingers crossed that everybody is fit to get on the plane," the coach said. West Indies will play two Tests and three one-day internationals on their tour of India, which begins with the first Test from Nov 6-10 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Ram Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I had a feeling the previous time the Windies were here, it was a relatively close series. So I checked up the results on cricinfo and the suspicions were right. Except for the 2nd test (which was completely one-sided and dominated by India), both the 1st and 3rd test were extremely close and could have been won by th Windies. They were well and truly ahead at the halfway point of the 1st test with a sizeable lead, but blew their chances with a 2nd innings implosion and India chased down 275. In the 3rd test too, they followed a solid 1st innings batting performance with a customary implosion in the 2nd, despite which, came close to within 1 wicket of a win (this was the infamous Aswhin run-out test, remember?) They are not going to be pushovers this time around.
SLICKR392 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 ^ Matter of fact, we almost pulled off a victory out of a certain draw in the 3rd Test when they game went to Day 5 and there were two more innings to be played. Middle order and Ashwin's running screwed us up.
