msb1991 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Unadkat is 21 and he need to hit the gym and eat well. He has the height. And the 16 wickets on FC debut against West Indies A shows that he has a great potential. Obviously he can be deadly in the right conditions.
King Tendulkar Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 And the 16 wickets on FC debut against West Indies A shows that he has a great potential. Obviously he can be deadly in the right conditions. He will do nothing at international level. Let him take as many wickets as he wants in A games and ranji. Could not care less, as he is not good enough for international level and the big jump up. 76 mph in the indian team. NO THANKS He is not even a trundler. Trundlers should be around 79 to 81:giggle:
Zanjeer Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 He has played several games for India. Adrenaline is not the only thing which causes pace. Rhythm plays a big part too. Effort also is not the deciding factor' date=' as goes the anecdote of Dennis Lillee attempting to bowl a quicker ball when he got timed in a match and it coming out much slower than the other deliveries.[/quote'] Yeah I agree rhythm is also a factor in determining pace, but bowling at 125kmp was just pathetic..it doesn't trouble international batsmen even if was getting banana swing. I have played for university matches, only couple of hundred people were watching, but heck I can promise you that I bowled faster than unadkat. I have listened to sachin's interview 6 years ago, he said he still gets nervous and the adrenaline starts pumping and he starts sweating a lot. That's the hunger I wanna see, but I think unadkat was not only bowling pathetic he wasn't showing any commitment on the field either. Dhoni asked him to run faster when he allowed 2 easy runs . I think he is either not very hungry enough for playing for India or he is just not fit enough to field for 50 overs. Either way, I would say don't play him anymore unless he shows that he really wants it.
express bowling Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Has there ever been a pacer in the history of cricket who has become a great bowler by bowling in the 120 s ? If not then on what basis are we thinking that we will produce one ?

But not for whole match and subsequent spells. He is just weak and pathetic. What selectors saw and see in him is beyond my comprehension

What use is pace, need to be accurate blah blah Unadkat is rubbish

What use is pace, need to be accurate blah blah Unadkat is rubbish People seem to forget the objective while choosing a pacer and developing him. It is to produce and include in the team high quality strike bowlers who can win matches for our team. 127 k pacers don't become good strike bowlers. Bowlers who can move the ball or get steep bounce at decent to high pace have a high probability of becoming strike bowlers. So, which kinds of bowlers should we choose ? Many people seem to search whether a bad pacer has any qualities which will justify his inclusion in the national team. That part is baffling. The objective of choosing the best wicket taking pacers seems to be forgotten.
G_B_ Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 lets not write off a 21 year old. Person can increase pace at that age and person can build physique. What you cant do is increase your height. In that sense Vinay who is 30 is probably going to be as good as he will ever be.
express bowling Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I am not talking about writing him off. If he puts in effort and increases his pace and skill then he can obviously come back. But why is he in the team today, that is the question !
MCcricket Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Even adding 5 k is a great deal, with Umadkat he needs to add min 10 k which is like taking .50 for a 100 m runner which is almost impossible once the runner has been running for a while

jusarrived Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Unadkat hit 140Kph in the u-19 WC , where the likes of Sandeep sharma and Netravelkar(?) where bowling in the range of 115-130 . Hes bowling much slower than he used to .
MCcricket Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 See the most pertinent point in the quote you made, earlier in his career, so he was not fast enough and enhanced his pace , that does mean he had the ability, fast twitch muscles, you cannot make a marathon runner into a sprinter, Unadkat has been playing and coached for at least 5 years and he is 125 k bowler , that is his natural pace, by ur logic everyone can be Boldon or Akhtar.
rkt.india Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 His attitude on the field was really poor. It felt like he did not want to be there.
Prakat Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 More like Porbundar Passenger going to the shed.

Could you clarify. He was 25 in 1999. He has played FC cricket for 2 years and OD cricket for 5 years.
