No one is denying they were good, even fool can say they were very good but to be out of world great on dead Pakistan pitches is to be questioned. The series of 87 and 99 you are talking about were very close ones which was true reflection of strengths of both team. it was 16 runs in 87 and round about same thing in 1999. Both series could have gone either way it just happened Pakistan held their nerve better. but what happened in 82-83 and other series in Pakistan all of sudden these guys started averaging in low teens and their batsmen averaging in 100s. Pakistan batsmen except two or three never are great to averaging 100 anywhere. We all saw how well Pakistan did against Indian with its weakest team in 1989 only difference two umpires were neutral. Why you think Pakistan win percentage started taking a dive after neutral umpires came into picture.

@Utalk well WI were feared because of their batting and their quick bowlers who used to target the body with pace. That does not rely much on the ball swinging or not. Lets face it Waquar Wasim and Imran are swing bowlers are deadly when they pitch the ball up. WI's quartet rarely did that. If anything it sort of explains why Pakistan have a good record in England (relatively) and have never won a series in Australia. Its cause of the conditions conductive to swing and the types of balls used. Australia is a hit the deck country where the ball seams rather than swings. Most of the bowlers in Australia during their peak have been hit the deck bowlers. There have been very few like Johnson.

@GB I agree with everything you have said there. We even struggled at home in 90s because of lack of swing but did well in places like Eng and NZ because of the swing in the air. @pruvetus I dont dispute that 99 and 87 series could've gone either way. Like you have said it was true reflection of both sides. I was too young in 83 but 87 onwards only home series with shamefully blatant biased umpiring was Eng 87. With a very clear video evidence available, I hope the match ref takes appropriate action. What exactly is the punishment to the fielder and captain other than the bowling team being penalized 5 runs?

bro because Inzi knew his boys didn't do it which is why they were later cleared. I doubt Smith will walk off seeing the video footage of Faf using his zip to shine the rough side on the big screens and when umpires called him to show the condition of the ball was altered..

How stupid are they? They have given an excuse to pakistanis why they will lose the second test. Also Pakistanis should be the last one to cry about ball tampering. Their legend Imran Khan was a ball tamperer too.
