CoverDrive Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 No co-incidence that all three scored 200s in the Ranji openers this season. These guys are going to give good fight to Kohli, Rohit, Pujara and Rahane for places in the team. All three have age at their side. Sanju being a keeper has a good chance to graduate to senior team once Dhoni leaves. He also is most likely to be a star in IPL in coming season of the three. Baba is probably a more complete package and will make the team first. he could do well in both Tests and ODI's Zol I have not seen bat a lot but seems to be a better long form player

Both are doing excellent for the time being. Pujara will get a run in Test cricket but Rahane will miss out if he doesn't do seomething crazy real fast.

Pagalpanti Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 If Samson and Zol come good it would be very smooth transition for India in tests because atm there aren't a lot of options for opening spot and WK spot. Lots of prospects for middle order though.
express bowling Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Among the young batsmen on view, who are the ones who can play bounce as well as swing and seam. That is what I would really like to observe.

express bowling Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 baba played some hook shots very well in the u19 WC which was in Aus Nice to know. I think Unmukt Chand and Smit Patel played decently in Australia too.
diga Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Fast track Zol- very few lefties in the Indian team
express bowling Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Fast track Zol- very few lefties in the Indian team How much do we know about him really ?
diga Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 How much do we know about him really ? meant to the A-team.. but he has a 100 on first class debut & a 200 on Ranji debut
express bowling Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 meant to the A-team.. but he has a 100 on first class debut & a 200 on Ranji debut A team is ok provided he has shown the potential to play bounce and movement. Otherwise we would end up with players like Raina who is good just as a LOI finisher but often ends up playing tests and top order in ODIs.
gakgupta Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 these 3 have the edge over others competing for spots... Baba can be a potential all-rounder samson is wicket batsmen and Zol is a leftiee... "A" tour will provide some sort of estimateas to how good these guyz are
Soorma_Bhopali Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I think Karthick ,Parthiv and company has been given many chances .Saha hasn't got many but I think he is not better than this prospect Samson. From now onwards, India should have Samson as the understudy to Dhoni in test cricket.
Cricketics Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 We need to realize that it's become a trend now from last decade that plenty of youngsters at the age of 18-23 hit a purple patch and people tout them as next big thing to come in cricket. More so in India than anywhere else we are the land of opportunities when it come to cricketers getting chance to play at a young age in National side. It has seemed to work for lot of players but at the same time plenty of players have found it hard to adapt to both formats. It will be good if these guys are giving longer run and then given a chance in the test side. You need to remember that there will be lot of chances available now since our whole test line up is new. There is NO TAKEN slot like how it used to be from 2001till 2013. There is no Sachin. No Dravid or Laxman, or Ganguly or Kumble or even Sehwag who have reserved their slots. Chances iwll come if they keep scoring. So let them continue to have a run. They are lucky to be born in this era where the team is in transitional stage. Test Match team mainly.
express bowling Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Yeah, these guys are really young and inexperienced. It would be good for them if they get 2 full domestic seasons under their belt and play some A matches. Then the best among them can be considered.
King Tendulkar Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Include chand in this. I would get on in for a few games or series. World cup is over 1 year away Yuvi and Raina look very vulnerable. Good to see what options we have I would identify the best one of these 4 and get one in. They make shine and take the chance, plus good for development
