he toured WI, didn't do anything. He toured with India -A to SA, didn't do anything. He played for champions league, looked in terrible form. He played well against Aussies in India but he looked clueless against short pitch deliveries and quality fast bowling. He wouldn't survive against steyn and co. in SA. It doesn't take a genius to know that..
and you think Rohit can survive opening against Steyn and co. in SA?What sort of logic is that. he did well in last Test series he played so why should he be replaced unless he fails.

Add to that list is the one test' date=' ODI series in SA 2011 where he was clueless. And 7-8 T20I's too all away from home.[/quote'] what was Rohit doing in SA in 2011.If he can improve why not Vijay?

He looks in great form. Handles short pitch deliveries really well. If he can do well in English conditions, there is no reason why he can't do it against SA. Yes, English pitches weren't typical swinging conditions, still he showed he's in good form which Vijay lacks at this moment.

What was Rohit doing anywhere in the world? But he was always going to come good. What was Ishant doing all of 2013? But he was always going to be world best in 2015. Vijay untailunted FTB :hehe: Rohit had showed promise overseas before. Vijay hasn't anywhere. And he's 28/29 in his prime.

why this hate against Vijay?
Vijay's problem is that he is very poor against the bouncing ball. All the good batsman we have had have been good to decent against short balls. Unless Vijay improves this aspect , he would have a tough time succeeding consistently in tests. Have we not seen the same thing with Raina and Yuvi.

wrong,CT pitches were more helpful to spinners.Thats hardly what you gonna get in SA.Different formats too. Vijay scored runs in his last Test series.dont judge his form by Champions League and IPL.Lets see how he does in Ranji but regardless he deserves his position for now

he avoids them pretty well from what I've seen.

I'm not talking about CL or ipl, he didn't do anything in WI and SA -A tour..after the test series against Australia,he seems to lost his form completely. That test match was 5 months back. Look at his current form and judge. On the other hand, rohit has proved in whatever chances he got. Let him play. I'm sure you would agree that he has become a better player than Vijay now.

for ODIs,yeah I agree. Rohit was also there in A tour IIRC,what did he do? I'm not a fan of mixing up formats,as I said his Ranji performances would tell his form for longer form of cricket.

Come on dude..whatever the format is, you have to consider the current form..do you honestly believe that Vijay has a better chance of doing well in SA?

The way he is constructing his innings in ODI's , I see no reason he can't replicate the same in Tests ..He has a better defence than Sehwag and is one of the better Indian players to play horizontal bat shots very well .
