Australia must leave Bailey out of the Ashes Squad- Ian Chappell

They are making the same mistake they did with Hussey with Bailey. Hussey had really good few ODI series in 2005 and they did not select him for tests. Bailey may still fail but how is he a worst choice vs. someone like KHawaja, Hughes, Cowan who have sucked big time. Chappel is letting his views color his judgement - he had deciding the ODI series is waste so will not give credit to anyone who did well in it. He probably did not even watch it and i just spouting his biased views.

Batting on pitches that bowlers find as helpful as a Parisian asked for directions in English and against an Indian attack more benevolent than the Bill Gates Foundation, has little bearing on what’s looming at the Gabba and beyond.

Surely they cant leave Bailey out just because he scored runs on batting friendly pitches and doesnt have an impressive record to crow, it has always baffled me how the likes of Voges and and Hughes are a first choice ahead of Maxwell and Bailey.

They haven't been anything spectacular to be honest. Test cricket needs batsmen with proper technique and I am sorry Smith doesn't have it. Yes, he is better than some others who played in India like Maxwell, Cowan but he is not test standard as of now. About Rogers, he is 36, averages 35 while opening for Australia. Can't say anymore. On the other hand players like bailey and forrest seem to have better techniques and should very well be tried for test matches.

Hughes has no technique.him opening would be disaster.Rogers is much better option imo. Smith has done well in his chances, not fair to drop him

I thought it was Aussie bowlers who were more benovalent this series.Fricking indian bowlers get more blame. this idiot chappell opened his big mouth again. He says Virat Kohli can fill Sachin shoes, but Bailey cant fricking fill Phil Hughes shoes. This guy Bailey looks to have strong character which is scarce commodity with Aussie batting these days, I would take him over any other batsmen including Watson except Clarke.
yep ,they allowed us to score 350 plus Three times in the series out of 5 matches played .Yet out bowlers get all the flake :|

Chappelli has a point though. Bailey's FC is pretty shoddy both in Australia and in England for Hampshire (I think). He needs runs here against Queensland. Because there is a chance for Hughes or Doolan to take his spot. England on decks that have movement aren't Indian pitches with Vinay Kumar. They are a lot tougher, so I'm unsure about him and Warner tbqh.

Chappell may have made the comment on Hayden in 1994 when Hayden was dropped for the next 6-7 years! Warne had also made similar comments on Bailey for Test matches and when he was selected as captain.
