How Many of us would have picked Umesh Yadav ahead of Shammi in the 11

Fast bowling NEeds speed, Strength, Skills, Run Up, Stamina and Even rhythm. Let me analyse Zak.... His speed is 135K now, his strength is back now,his skills are 10 on 10 But does he has stamina now is his bowling rhythm back, is he running well Let me analyse Shammi- he is looking high on All fronts today So fast bowling is not like spin bowling - with experience Normally a spinner gets better. I believe with experience fast bowler declines in afew aspects as well So I believe Zak Is history now even Ishant is looking as if he is under 138K now Ishant just had bounce and Speed *nd now if his His speed is low than he is behind..... I can analyse any fast bowler on these factors and I bet the decision will be correct- I am a computer engineer By profession so analysis is a part of my Job. Selectors need to know that fast bowlers need to change for a short time based on this Let me analyse Irfan khan of past.... Skills- 10 on 10. Speed- upto 140K Stamina great Rhythm- tops Run up also Good Now he is under 125k No swing n skills Run up low Rhythm - not there So irfan of past and irfan of present are 2 individuals as far As fast bowling is concerned. Live eg RP singh- he won us the T 20 world cup...I saw him getting Ricky pointing out live at wankhade and I think he was bowling as fast As Mitchell johnson....he ws bowling at 145K and I saw sachin dropping A catch of a batsman ...I was sitting in public behind dhoni n sachin Sachin was in second slip and he just touched the ball .. RP was very fast may be upto 145 K or more and now he is 130K So as a fast bowler these are 2 RP"s I wanna say selectors Keep on changing Fast bowlers..... When they believe that any fast bowler is on a decline he should be rested nnd brot back when He is back at peak and if he does not come back Let him enjoi......

Love the fact that a new talented bowler like BK is being completely dismissed based on a couple of matches. He was not even given a chance with the changed ball which got Shammi his wickets. As I have said before, Indian fans are mostly nothing but speed gun junkies and their praise or blame of a bowler is completely depended on speed gun readings (except RKT)
Yes that's exactly it. Nothing to do with the fact that Shami has taken more wickets in his debut Test than Bhuvi has managed in five Tests...

We need a guy like Bhuvaneswar on a pitch that offers a bit movement. If ball doesn't reverse Shami could look a bit ineffective. Besides Bhuvaneswar did find edges, get the batsmen rapped on the pads. He didn't look totally ineffective like Ishant, Vinay et al. I would hardly call him toothless.

He can bowl well with the new ball too. He has a good seam position and hits the right lengths at good pace. He picked wickets in Ind-Aus series with the new ball on good batting pitches.

He has to bowl atleast 132-137 consistently to be even in reckoning for tests at home

You are not going to find that pitch in India often. Even Shami found edges. Looks like you did not watch the ODI series vs Aus. BK did not get the ball to move in any of the matches while Shami moved the ball off the pitch in all the matches he played, got most of his wickets by seaming the ball in and a catch of Bailey was dropped by Kohli in slip when the ball moved away and got the edge. Even in this test, he moved the new ball more than BK. There was just no carry in this pitch.

BK's average pace in this match was 80.4 mph 128-129K, Shami's 85.7 mph 137-138K, while Shami bowled more overs.

I don't compare BK with Shami. I am just saying we should persist with Bhuvan instead of dropping him. I am not sure if "horses for courses" will be the right way to develop a long serving bowling combination. We should give him a chance to improve.

He can improve in the nets and will always ODIs, but in tests you want bowlers can be strike bowlers especially when we are playing 4 bowlers. Shami is not going to take 9 wickets in every match and then we will miss another strike bowler like Yadav at home. BK is decent at containing batsmen and against left handers.

May be Sit Ojha out once Jaddu is back that way you can go in with 3 pacers.

Shami bowled attacking length to Gayle was beaten several times, got few boundaries trough outside edges and inside edges, few through covers with attacking field setting. BK bowled defensive length that is just short of good length. Gayle is not going play for every team.

one edge 4.. four boundaries were crisp. Infact gayle hit him out of the attack. Ashwin came on to bowl and Bhuvaneswar swapped ends and picked him up. After that wicket Bhuvan bowled just one over. Couple of boundaries.. that's it he was not given a ball again. How can he pick wickets in the middle if he doesn't bowl at all. I am not saying he would have picked.

Line and length doubled with pace is extremely deadly, as shami showed in this match. Even pandey figured out after that A tour that he needed to increase his pace. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was talking about both the innings as you added runs of first innings as well. Another difference was length. There was a huge difference in length of both bowlers, Shami bowled fuller to get swing, BK bowled back of a length which containing length. Fuller length is always prone to go for runs.

Bhuvaneswar definitely bowls better to lefties. Jamshed wicket, cook wicket.. were all good deliveries. If you look at little deep only decent batsman Shami dismissed was Samuels twice. Remaining players are powell once, Ramdin twice, Cottrell twice, Shillingford once, Sammy once. Bhuvaneswar dismissed Cook, KP, Morgan in a brief spell in the one dayer.

Regarding this match, any batsman would have find it difficult to tackle those deliveries. Some of those were unplayable deliveries. This pitch lacked bounce. On bouncier tracks, his away going delivery will be handy too. Gayle gifted his wicket in 2nd innings.

I don't think anybody is suggesting that Bhuvi should be dropped from the scheme of things. He is a good bowler, economical -- definitely better than Ishant and VK in any form of cricket. He should be in the team for ODIs and tests in swing friendly conditions. But , for subcontinent tests, he does not look like a wicket taking bowler. That's it. Regarding the question of bowler development ... what would happen to Umesh's development if he is dropped from the Indian team in all forms of cricket ? India rarely gets a genuine fast bowler who is an actual wicket taker in tests with a strike rate of 46.

I just don't Understand Dhoni"s mind- Sometimes he will really Under bowl a bowler and over bowl SpiNners.... Dhoni has always under bowled Umesh and Bhuvi in TESTS...... Luckily he has not Underbowled shammi ....but I believe he Needs to show more faith on Umesh and BK..n Pace bowlers too
