Amarnath was one of the best and grittiest players to have played for India, he could take all the hits in the middle and then score a century against WI greats, also could bowl and if his career wasn't screwed by the selectors he would have a far better stat, my dad had played and interacted with players during that era and rated him highly along with Chandra who was a freak.Bedi was a classical left arm spinner who had fantastic control. I AM TEMPTED TO INCLUDE Pataudi, Ganguly who were both brilliant captains and cricketing brains. Kohli would def be in my Indian all time ODI TEAM, WE HAVE A LOT OF TALENTED GUYS IN THE PRESENT TEAM AND SQUAD AND SOME WILL END UP BEING IN THE TEAM IN THE FUTURE TOO

Bedi was never a match winner , he was accuracy was his main weapon, so he is out. I would have erapalli in my 11. Viru, sunny, dravid, sachin, vishy or vvs kapil, dhoni, kumble prassana, zak and srinath for overseas matches.

I think VVSL offers still more... :hmmm: he does not bowl sure but superior bat.. Also I think an AT India side cant not have Vinoo Mankad, yes I know Dev is there as the allrounder but how many sides have two genuinely great ARs... think of the batting depth it would give, particularly playing an AT WI/Aus side away from home

Here is the challenge i see comparing cross era players, stats tell you nothing about player, opposition, conditions etc. Lets take ex of tamim iqbal avg little under 40 had a great series in england. 25yrs from now if lets say Bangladesh develops into this cricket powerhouse there will be 2 guys on a forum fighting how Tamim was a great player of pace and swing given he scored 2 100s in england including 1 at lords where even sachin couldnt get a 100; not knowing tamim was a brainless batsman who every now and then gets lucky
