Test Matches - Sir Jadeja or Ojha ?

Jadeja grabbed 24 wickets in 4 tests vs. Australia and missed this series due to injury . He offers better (?) batting ability and proven outstanding fielding also . However, Ojha has been the best of the three spinners so far in series after series ( Ind vs. Eng 2012 and now ,Ind vs. WI) . He has taken a 10fer now when Ravi Ashwin did not look all through threatening . His batting is tailender stuff though and fielding is so-so /Ok types . He is out of the ODI plans also due to the one-dimesional skills offerred by him as most ODI teams prefer players with atleast Good/outstanding abiities in atleast two areas out of batting/bowling/fielding . Ravi Ashwin is firmly ensconced due to his all-round skills in batting and bowling although his overseas record is questionable . Once Jadeja is back , Is there a way Ojha will be there in the Test XI ? Or will Jadeja miss out unless he starts performing with the bat ?

I want to see more of Ojha. When I say that, I mean i want to see him keep playing for few games. I seriously don't remember him bowling bad or pathetic before getting dropped or not being picked in the team. I never could understand how he wasn't playing. This guy deserves more chance.

Problem for Oijha is that by millllllllllllllllllllllllles he is worst batsman, he is proper number 11, while other 2 are possible all rounders. This is what is counting against Oijha

I hope only 2 spinners picked in the team for SA tests. Ojha as far as i have seen bowls good only in spinfriendly conditions. If jadeja played vs WI he would have also picked up more wkts. Ojha's batting & fielding is poor too , so my money will be on jadeja (not in playing XI).

RJ will be in the 1st XI let alone squad. I think Ojha can be in the squad too. SA pitches are not what they once were, likely that one or two grounds will have a bit in it for spinners. We are not going to go in with 4 pace men in a playing XI unless its really green and hard, so itll be 3 pacemen RJ and Ashwin, if god forbid Ashwin gets injured well need spin backjup. The squad will be a 16 man one… M Vijay, S Dhawan, C Puj, V Kohli, R Sharma, R Jadeja, MSD, R Ashwin, BKumar, MShami , U Yadav Z Khan, P Ojha, D Kartik (maybe, reserve bat and wk), Rahane, Another Paceman: Pandey or Kaul… ?

ashwin was abysmal in aus (avg 62),vs eng (avg 52 at home!!) but he redeemed himself somewhat against aus at home,overall avgs good 27.5 with a great S/R of 56 so he has an overall better stats ojha was good vs eng at home(avg 30),decent vs aus,his main problem is S/R which is 67 and avg of 30 overall not bad because he mostly played on absolute belters jadeja has only played one series where he was the standout performer but has a lot to prove very little difference wrt bowling stats real difference is the batting- ashwin (avg 40)>>>jadeja(avg 19.8)>>ojha (9) fielding wise- jadeja>>ojha>ashwin for home-ashwin is a defo being a superior batsman, now the real problem for dhoni is whether to play jadeja #7 and play 3 spinners or play 6 genuine batsmen and pick one of ojha/jadeja where i think ojha wuld be picked for away- ashwin is a sure shot selection to have the comfort of a good #8 but all of the 3 are unproven away from home

How can you say that ? HE HAS NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO PLAY AN OVERSEAS TEST , BY OVERSEAS - I MEAN non-Indian Subcontinent conditions . He is not able to command a regular place as in India , where we play two spinners , It's the all round batting and fielding abilities of Jadeja and in Ashwin's case, better and solid batting and slip fielding skills . In overseas , when we play one spinner , Ashwin gets the nod due to the above mentioned reasons . May be , we will play two spinners overseas now with Jadeja as no.6/no.7 batsman . I would argue that if we are strictly comparing the spin-bowling ability , Ojha is marginally ahead of Jadeja and Ashwin.:sherlock:

THAT WOULD BE HARSH . HE SHOULD BE IN SQUAD . SA are not known to be too good a player of spinners . This conundrum reminds me of the Assies ' Warne vs. MacGill conundrum in the 90's and early 2000's . How the Aussies would now give anything , even a fast-tracked naturalization and speed passport , to someone with even a minute fraction of MacGill's leg-spinning abilities now :giggle::giggle::giggle:

Both will be in the Test squad I think. Dhoni seems to want Jadeja at 6 and as fifth bowler. Jadeja is never going to be part of a four man attack so Ojha will be Ashwin's deputy. the craving of an aaaaalllrrounder is a waste of time in general so hopefully they leave Jadeja home and take another batsman.

SA dont have many lefthanders amla kallies will play ashwin with ease i would drop ashwin for the series because ashwin is not good with his bowling abroad and he cannot bowl well to quality right handed players like kallies or amla ojha or jaddu have a better chance against them

I would play two spinners even in SA as both are almost all-rounders in tests and in this way , play five bowlers overall.If any of the spinner all-rounders underperform , replace them with Pragyan Ojha 1.
