BeautifulGame Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I think the right to match card is a typical IPL corructed move. Why a franchise should have such a card. Once they retained their allocated players.....they should also go on to bid on a player in order to retain his services...rather then after the other franchise finished their bidding....not to flash their lame....right to match card. This is CSK & MI move...& the rest of the franchise cant do nothing. Maybe i understand wrongly but Right to match card is to offset the retention of players and help smaller franchises against MI & CSK. Unlike these two franchises , the likes of RR and KXIP cant pay pay underhand money to retain their star players(like with Yusuf pathan last time) But now with RTM Card they can retain the players with this option without getting into bidding war against the likes of MI.
bulbul Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 ^ It says they have to match the highest bid :haha:
bulbul Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 As long as :rcb: retains Gayle,Kohli,AB and Vinay result doesn't matter :winky:

RTM card means that the franchise using that card will match the winning bid by other teams on the players they wanted in their team. This card is crap move & is for the powerful teams of CSK & MI. Another way to retain 8 players & then go on bidding war for other teams players. These moves shows that within IPL...there is also a smaller BCCI to boss it around...just like our BCCI does in ICC
bulbul Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Guys you can all fight about retention policy but end of day :rcb: going to win IPL 7 :isalute:
velu Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Guys you can all fight about retention policy but end of day :rcb: going to win IPL 7 :isalute: mallya neither have any money like bambis nor the power of don mama .. :giggle:

These moves shows that within IPL...there is also a smaller BCCI to boss it around...just like our BCCI does in ICC Its a pretty simple idea so that teams dont have to shuffle if they dont want to. Why should i, as a CSK supporter, has to suffer changing team just because KKR made bad decisions earlier. CSK and MI has built a good team over the years by buying well and luck. Its not fair to nullify all those good decisions because someone else made lots of bad decisions. By the time 5 players are retained, more than 50% of the purse would have been emptied and if they have to buy 3 additional players back, then other teams would have bid very low for those players. Noone asked the other teams to pay 1.5 to 2 million for yusuf pathan, irfan pathan, surabh tiwary, utappha etc when CSK got Ashwin, Badri for less than half of that last time. MI has basically used a lot of money to try out a lot of players. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. But now that they have a good team after nearly 5 years of trying, they shouldnt give it up. Either follow CSK(buy allrounders), MI( buy a lot), RR( buy dependable) or come up with their own strategy.
PAA-G Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 DD should retain KP' date='warner, yadav, morkel(key player),viru, ross ..these are some good t20 players,KP and ross's absence drenched us this IPL but we will be back,u can never count out 2 time table toppers :dd:[/quote'] ross was sold out to pwi last season in bargain of nehra. With kirsten back I think we need a moderate team to win it....he can work out wonders with the worst would rather go for gotiya (in place off VIRU PAA) if KKR donot retain him (highly unlikely). With aaron back after injury would rather retain one of aaron/yadav (aaron>yadav) over morkel. KP WARNER to be retained anyhow. BUY finch/dwayne bravo if possible. Henriques could be another great buy. Someone like shillingford can also be brought if available at the auction. Ryan ten DO is another great option (KKR DIDNT EVEN PLAY HIM FORGET RETAINING). LAST YEAR PHILANDER WENT UNSOLD. JUST IN CASE HE IS AVAILABLE PICK HIM UP.(CAN BE HELPFUL IF IPL TAKES PLACE IN SAF AND OTHERWISE ALSO). SHAKIB CAN BE ANOTHER GOOD BUY N JIMMY NEESHAM TOO CAN BE A GREAT BID. H DAVIDS OF SAF CAN BE ANOTHER GREAT BUY.
BeautifulGame Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I m planing support :kxip: Sreeni to Preeti :hmmm:

Anyway...coming to you other remark...nobody is asking any team fan to suffer. If any team wants to retain 8...then it should be marked as such. Why bring in this under the table 3 RTM BS. eg....if CSK & MI have retained their 5 players...they dont have to bid on their remaining players at all. They can have all the other franchise bid...& if the price is low...they just flashed their card. BS.

They can have all the other franchise bid...& if the price is low...they just flashed their card. BS. I dont think so. What the 3 RTM does is makes sure that 1 team does not get to have a high profile 6th,7th and 8th player. Lets suppose CSK retains Dhoni,Raina,Jadeja,Ashwin and mohit sharma. If other teams want Murali vijay,Fauf du plesis and Hussey so badly, they can go high. CSK, which has already lost a lot due to retaining players, can now decide if they want to pay a lot for these players and doing more damage to their purse (Remember CSK needs to buy 30 or so players) or get another smaller player. Now, if the other teams do not think that Murali vijay is worth a big amount and bid only a small amount, CSK will probably think its a good buy back. It basically makes a team have only 5 big players (whoever are retained) and yet have the option of buying back players who the others think are not worth a lot and still maintain their team. This was evident when CSK lost Muralidharan and balaji last time to a higher price yet retained the smaller players like Hussey,Tyagi and Joginder sharma. Getting 8 big players will most likely cost 75% of their salary allotment.
