Now he is clocking around 145k. Even Imran was not that express when he started out. He gained pace as the years went by. Most of the aussies i know came in as express and continued as express may be 5 or 6 k quicker.

Most of the aussies i know came in as express and continued as express may be 5 or 6 k quicker. Md. Irfan bowled 135 to 145 k even in his debut series in International cricket. We can't really be sure whether he was slower in Pakistan domestic cricket. Some Padosi posters say he was always quick. Waqar was fast and Shoaib was express even at the beginning of their international career. Very few Aussie pacers are express. Only Lee, Tait and Johnson ( this year only ) would qualify in recent times. Among Aussies, Harris has definitely gained pace. Siddle had gained pace for a brief period and has reverted back to fast medium, just like many Indians. Same thing with Hilfenhaus. Pattinson bowled a bit quicker last season but Don't know whether he will be able to maintain his pace after injury. Johnson is bowling quicker this season than ever before. We will again have to see whether he can maintain this pace next season. Starc has bowled at the same pace from the beginning. Among Indians, Srinath gained pace and maintained it for 3 years or so. Nehra did the same. Sreesanth and RP , both bowled quick for one season after starting as fastmedium but could not keep the pace up.

express bowling Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Among the English, Steve Finn gained a lot if pace. From bowling 130 to 137 k mostly , at beginning of his international career, he went up to 140 to 150 k for a season. Now, he has again dropped back to 135 to 142 or 145 k max. mostly. Andrew Flintoff gained pace from 130 to 140 k to 135 to 145/146 k. But did not bowl at this pace consistently, only from time to time. Among Pakistanis, Imran Khan is the only clear case of pace increase that I can offhand think of, among internationally successful pacers. All the other cases are increase in speeds for one season or so or bowling quicker only from time to time , for short periods. Umar Gul bowls quicker only occasionally but can't sustain it. Normally he is 132 to 142 k. Talking of Sri Lankans, Dilhara Fernando bowled quicker than he did when he started off. There seems to be a lot of cases of increase in speeds for smaller periods and not being able to maintain it or bowling quicker from time to time for short periods.

Siddle is mainly fast-medium now but always over 130kph. Irfan debuted which year ? Maybe I am confusing his debut then. Siddle bowled 140 to 150 for a season or so. Now is back to 130 to 140 k mainly. Many pacers all over the world seem to bowl a lot slower in domestic competitions. I don't know whether they put in less effort or the international match speed guns give higher reading to create more interest among viewers.

Scarves Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Brett Lee was much quicker at points in 2003-2005 than he was when he started. Nahhhh he was blistering quick when he started. For me it has to be Johnson at the moment but it is consistent though. Afridi could be an awesome as well.

CG Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Diff in speeds in countries is also due to speed hunt techniques used by diff channels.Some channels measure speed from the release and some when the ball hits the ground.U will see in Southafrica Bouncers will clock more and in Australia fuller deliveries or yorkers will clock more.
MCcricket Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Most notable is Craig White of England he was an ave cricketer and suffered from a attack while on the street he wakes up from a coma I believe and suddenly transforms his game and gets into the team, bowls slingy 90 mph deliveries and batted as an all rounder, Flintoff bowled fast medium initially and then started bowling in mid 140s regularly, same with Kaliis who was in 130's initially and then bowled 140 and above in his prime, Watto too, Imran khan from being a batter who bowls medium pace to world class fast bowler, among Indians RP added a few yards and then lost more then what he had gained, Ishant bowled in early 130 and low 120's on debut and then started bowling in mid 140s and seeming regressed to being mid 130's, most Indian bowlers have lost pace after playing for India except Shami who seems to be getting to mid 140's range.
