Lord Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 No you..cannot compare spinners and quick bowlers like that There are always more quick bowlers playing than spinners..you can live with all quick attack but not all spin attack unless pitch is totally under prepared And you guys are thinking I personally hate ashwin or anything it's not true it's about picking4 guys who can all pick wickets if one of them can't then replace him with someone who can in given conditions At home opposite will Helen and alone of 2 pacers even after performing well will be dropped cos spinners are more effective...why don't use same logic here ? why not?if its a turner, just play 4 spinners no?over rate ka bhi issue nahi.and we have seen Ashwin and Ojha bowl with the new ball anyways.:hmmm:
Old guy Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 why not?if its a turner' date='just play 4 spinners no?over rate ka bhi issue nahi.and we have seen Ashwin and Ojha bowl with the new ball anyways.:hmmm:[/quote'] Many reasons Spinners can bowl much much more than fast bowlers so most times 2 is enough Then there is case of using new ball, reverse swing and simple reason that they are more effective If ur logic was true then there would have been equal number of spinners playing but it does not happen There are more fast bowlers in 11 always and there is almost no instance of all spin attack playing but there have. Been tons of instances where all fast bowlers have been playing or at least 4 played But we never see 4 spinners playing
Lord Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 This is defensive mindset which is setting up back. At Perth' date=' we suffered not because we played 4 pacers, but because we played Vinay Kumar. Ashwin played 3 tests in Aus, what special he could have done at Perth if he had played and he could not do in those 3 tests. At Perth, we bowled poorly at the started and when we started getting it right, we picked their 10 wickets in less than 150 runs after 220 for no loss.[/quote'] VK wasnt only one who got hammered.everyone was by Warner.Ashwin could've atleast contained Warner imo.
Old guy Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Also I don't really have to explain why part when you can see how things work ..just look at any team and you will see they have 4 quick bowling option ready at any moment Even England played stokes to compete but bad luck broad got injured Aussies have Watson,South Africa either play 4 quicks or have Kallis In the past too this happened ...but we had kumble who did well

He did anyway. Why don't these guys learn to bowl a few. In this day and age with so much cricket to prevent bowler burn out batsmen have to dab their hands at bowling. India has zero part time options with reputation.
putrevus Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 why nohit was not even given one over is still a mystery to me.

True..but after all rounder we have to go with 2 nd option Either drop one batsman or drop spinner cos you need 4 quicks and this is one thing we learned in this test This does not make ashwin bad ..even ajmal did not get any wickets here and even swann struggled at home against them..
vvvslaxman Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 England has Jimmy, Broad, Bhaisnan, Monty, Stokes, KP, Joe Root.

Just like they pick one pacer atleast for reverse swing,a spinner is picked hoping for 5th day cracks and usually to give respite to the pacers 4 pacer attack is picked very rarely and is usually backed by a a reliable part time spinner who bowls many overs. We dont have a Raina or such part timer who we can rely to bowl 10-15 overs.

Problem is this team plays spin well even better than India in some ways Also ajmal here was totally not effective who is better bowler than ashwin Easily and if it will turn u will know that even before start of play pitch looks totally different

div Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 SA-450/7 (two run outs) India-366 AO yes, Indian bowlers suck..they should at least try to improve their fielding and batting.
CG Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 With 2 bowlers we are able to do so well with attacking fields. If we develop these guys we will have a world class attack.
saneindian Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 With 2 bowlers we are able to do so well with attacking fields. If we develop these guys we will have a world class attack. Only in favourable conditions. On flatter wickets, remains to be seen how they bowl in tests. Nonetheless last two innings have been absolutely amazing from the bowlers. Wonder when was the last time we got a team out for under 200 in two consecutive innings or when any of our pacers took two back to back 5-ers.

Last time we took a fifer overseas was in Aus 2012 by Umesh and now by Ishant in this series. Shami took a 5-fer at home too. 5-fers for Indian pacers are rarity. Ishant has 4 of them since 2011.

SLICKR392 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 On flat tracks we need whole side to contribute Cannot have zack in side Zak was such a massive reliability on this wicket. Not a single wicket on a green top for a guy with over a decade experience. We would easily restricted them under 150 or less had it been any other bowler. Bhuvan was ideal for this wicket. He is ideal for any wicket in NZ and England.
