Yes. If have achieved something until that time and your team is ready for transition he would have survived. Just imagine the amount of losses Australia after their greats retired. Look t the amount of losses West Indies is suffering still after mid 90s. Their transition is eternal.
But clarke was still scoring big centuries although his team failed. He was still leading the team with his batting. Dhoni has not done that much with his batting abroad. WI doesnt look the same for so long now. They are more interested in winning t20 tournaments. But really cant compare us with windies, we have so many players in domestic ckt and lot of talented players.

Nobody asked for Dhoni's head after England tour. But.. What about Australia ? What about series loss to England in India too ? But yeah he is an all time great captain in Loyd, Border mould. Just wondering why all the channel 9 commies were laying into his great decisions throughout Aus series.
Laxman retired, Dravid retired, Tendulkar was not going to captain, Viru not in scheme of things, Gambhir not in scheme of things. Bhajji was out of favor, Kohli was still establishing himself. Entire line up was too raw . Who would you have appointed as captain?

We will build our way up to ODIs and Tests? No Conspiracy theory, just a plain and simple question

Probably because it gets least respect? :cantstop: . May be it is due to culture. I am trying to think when was the last time we had different captains for different formats.

No captain can be allowed to stay like this when his own performances are as bad as discarded players.

Dhoni was sacked by selectors then' date='Clarke said he feared being sacked.Actually series in england was closer than stats show .While we were hammered by huge margins[/quote'] Everyone knows who saved dhoni for unknown reasons. He is a great captain yes a great odi captain. In tests i dont think so.

Amarnath said dhoni was sacked and srini saved him,So its clear.GUys who think dhoni is going to be sacked in any formats are just day dreaming.

Kumble and DHoni I think and that was the way to do it... Why couldn't a potential young guy in the scheme of things made to lead in the T20 WC as Dhoni was completely useless all around anyway....DIdn't Dhoni himself get a start the same way? I mean the tournament is high profile enough for someone to get a taste of leadership isn't it? Shows how power hungry and insecure he is

They were not even established at that time. very few tests. They would have been overwhelmed . Being an Indian captain is different from Being captain of other countries. Those guys would have been crucified by fickle Indian fans by now. We had a bad phase. Once our oldies left our team has started winning something.

Whenever Dhoni takes a break some guy gets a chance from time to time. gambhir, kohli, raina all have led the side. Personally Kohli is too emotional to lead a side at this juncture against tough sides. Pujara is one option. I haven't seen him enough. Probably he will get the captaincy in tests.

There is no logic here clearly as to why he keeps his captaincy spot

Shouldn't they remove him as captain for not winning matches? My point is there is some lee way when you go through transition state. Attributing every single test loss to one player lacks sense. One single player could not cause that many loss. Not even Imran Tahir. We had some oldies that needed to be gotten rid of. We got rid of them. We have gotten somewhere.
No they could not remove him as a captain as he was only player who was the lone certainty in playing eleven when fit. With Clarke it was never about his stature as player maybe as captain but since no else was there he had to lead the team. Leeway is given to best player who is still justifying his place in the team as player, which Border was and then Clarke was doing the same during their transition phase. One more question anyone needs to ask is Dhoni the right man to handle fast bowlers as a captain.I don't think he is comfortable at all in handling fast bowlers. What is it Dhoni as captain/player brings to the table which moving forward will be important as this team embarks on away tours. There is no question Dhoni has been dealt with a poor hand as far as fast bowlers are concerned could it be overcome to some extent by more resourceful captain. For all that to even be discussed Dhoni cannot be Dhobi with the bat, he needs to contribute with bat first. If anyone says he has done well with bat then we are talking about two different people.

No one is available for captaincy beside Dhoni. If we want a new captain, then we should bring back one of the non-performing seniors we kicked out.

Dhoni has a dual role apart being captain, he has to contribute some runs along with his keeping skills. If he had scored runs who knows those results would not been so poor there even if we not won those series.

Zaheer made a comeback in Dravid's captaincy. That's why I said we won't get any sub 30 bowler ever but Dhoni will make sure career of talented bowlers finishes and under him no bowler will become like even Zak or Srinath. He has done that constantly so far.
Under Dravid Irfan got totally destroyed. Munaf from being the great hope was a dud by 2006-07 SA tour. Was Dravid responsible?

wow.. i already feel sad for Pujara and Kohli who will be getting crucified by the same Indian fans in future.
Don't feel sad, they are test players with ability to read a game not just one-day stars. So they won't be as braindead as Dhoni, although they might still lose but won't get as much criticism as Dhoni.

Case can be made for backing Sreeshanth,RP and Zaheer(2nd run) who won matches in return

I don't know who was responsible. All I know is under Dhoni not even a single talented bowler's career has taken off. There were quite a few who were doing very well around the time his captaincy started, there were some who were started well under him, but at the end they are finished in some time. Not entirely his fault but when there are so many of these, can't we question his captaincy specially when we all see how he is handing his fast bowlers now ?
