The fact that Ranji batsmen struggle against VK shows the gap between the FC circuit and International cricket!! Vinay Kumar or Mithun for that matter is not going to bother any half decent international batting line up, whether it swings, bounces or even if they switch the red ball with a hand grenade!! The best swing bowler India has seen in recent times Buvaneswar Kumar was taken to the cleaners by the Saffers. The likes of Vinay, Mohit, Mithun and myriad of domestic trundlers arent even in the same league!!! They'll just be international cannon fodder!! Somehow the Karnataka trundling college has been regularly able to promote some of their pass outs into representing India and hats off to their idol Prasad for this.

Yeah similar at this stage when Vinay is well past his best years ..few seasons back Vinay was much quicker & more sucessful .

OP is someone I liked and thought talked good cricket knowledge I have lost all respect for OP as a cricket pundit and all respect for him as a human being. I can forgive a lot of things but backing vinnay kumar is something unforgivable. Only excuse one can give is thats its christamas and one glass too many and got carried away. If he comes back and announces a retraction and posts something full of hate for vinnay he may be pardoned

Granted Mumbai lineup bar jaffer is inexperienced but just watching vinay bowl right now' date='[b']I get it why selectors keep picking this guy and dhoni keeps backing him. Just saw his spell and must say some brilliant stuff.....mithun picked up a wicket and it does look favorable conditions but my word he looks like taking a wicket every ball. I get it.....I am a believer...I used to think stats in domestics mean nothing and this guy was quota player but he does look world class. Don't know what happens to him in internationals,he is literally making the ball talk right now. No wonder people who follow indian domestics regularly here don't criticse him a lot :hatsoff: to lejund for making a believer in me today. Having said that....time to move on,he blew his chances in international cricket but well deserved run,too bad for him.

Lol pathetic, keep supporting the less than 130kph trundlers who don't trouble batsmen, who don't attack and take wickets, who don't set the world on fire and win you matches. At the least they cant do worse than Vinay/Mithun and hopefully with pace on their side theres hope that they will improve. What I am fed up of are these '130 on a good day and 120 on most days' who rely on walking this very thin line of perfect line/length and if lucky a modicum of swing to bowl a few unassuming quite overs. The moment they bowl a bit too short/full or just a bit of width the ball ends up outside the boundary. Why persist with this mediocrity?! What makes it worse is that there will be a generation of young quicks who will believe that trundling is the way to national selection. Tall athletic boys who want to bowl fast. They will pick up tricks of the trade with experience.

Thank goodness that guys like shami, ishant and even yadav have picked up wickets and shami in the WI tests had the stadium crowd behind him, surely he's inspiring young bowlers and fans who may want to become bowlers. Sending the message that if you want to take wickets and break the timber, you should bowl fast with a decent length and some swing would be great! Then we have the yadav mould who can trouble a batsman with pure pace and some outswing. These bowlers should be backed, not the trundlers who embarass india and are defended by gavaskar: "When you bowl good line and length like that, you don't need to bowl 150kph" Well why can't we have a bunch of 140kph bowlers then? Doesn't have to be either extreme.

The 125 k pacers keep failing in international cricket. They never succeed. Even more difficult if they are short. But we keep on being impressed by their domestic performances and think they can be good for India. It beats me really.
